Took one side of the bumper off todaydrove straight into a spot at the motor show today without realising how high the stop was at the front. All this and my cars still standard height
used some JB weld to fix the holes which mount the bumper and leaving it to dry overnight. Sure hope it works

Last week I tried to change the passenger door lock module with one I bought from Tek199. I found the new lock was for a car with keyless entry, so I merged the 2 together and all seemed ok.
Then I closed the door and it would not open again ARGH !?!?
So today I had another go, took about 30 handle pulls to get the door open. I pulled everything out and rebuilt the lock. Put it back in and it worked. I took my daughter to swimming and came back to finish it a few hours later. The electrics are playing up again, but at least I can open the door.
So 5 hours last weekend & 3 this weekend and I have a door lock with the same problems it had before I started.Sometimes it unlocks all the doors, sometimes the electric does not kick and it goes to manual for just that door. If I pull on the loom from the module it works again for a minute or 2. Now I'm not sure the fault is in the module, the connector, or the loom somewhere in the door.
Anyway I've had a gut full, and regrettably, next week once the weird sound from the front end is sorted, I'll probably be putting it up for sale.MK4 GTI - Sold
MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

If it's intermittent, it's probably the solder joints on the inside of the lock. It was with 3 of my doors! The car now locks & unlocks all doors perfectly now, red light blinking too, showing 'compliance' from all doors & deadlocked. Look back at my post the other week ...

LED interior lights - shiney!
Back latch not unlocking properly and no boot light - looks like I have the dreaded rear washer leak - another job to add to the list of things to make and do....

Tried to install my coilovers today, but unfortunately I was only able to get the rear installed as I didn't have the tools for the front. I've already got an appointment with the suspension shop for a wheel alignment though, so I'll just get them to finish the job off. Here's how it looks at the moment:

Dat Ghetto spec :p
hope it works out well man .. from personal experience a rattle gun takes care of it if you just keep hitting it on short intervals .. worked for me twice ..

Yesterday, davedel and I pulled half my dash apart to install the new stereo we sourced. Ran the GPS antenna through the dash behind the glovebox to sit it just under the left corner of the windscreen, ran the microphone through the right side of the dash (under the steering column) and up under the trim to have the mic just poking out at the top of the A-pillar.
Aside from an AM radio reception issue (working that out now), I'm pretty damned happy with it - bluetooth works really well, the inbuilt GPS is far from terrible (and it's a WinCE based device, so I can change to something better if required).Nothing to see here...
