    • My project tonight:

Some asshat who once owned my car decided to cut the harness for the 3rd brake light and connect some wires that went into the bootlid and were taped off. WTF.

I couldn't find a wrecker who had the original harness so I needed to make up something instead. Ended up soldering directly to the pins and gluing the wires in place with some good ole' silly-of-con.

      • wanted to do mine black like above, looks good!
feel like the finish will handle being bumped and scuffed on places like the door handles?

I've done the front handles and they're holding up well, no marks or anything yet just dust is really visible on the surface

Yes - Krylon flat black (NOT matte black as I said previously) ... It's a very close match to OEM and seems to bond really well to the plastic.

                    • When it says "no prep" or whatever, disregard that ... You don't want to remove the texture from your trim pieces, but you want to remove all the flaky paint stuff completely so you have a good surface to work with.

I used one of those green kitchen scourers and then gave the surface a really light sand with wet and dry to tidy it up. Soaking the trim pieces in warm water seemed to help too.

I absolutely hate the soft touch stuff! some parts are such a pain to get off. For the stuff that doesn't want to come off try using some methylated spirits, i also recommend this thingy
it allows you to scrub much harder without hurting the plastic
