Technically you will need a little spreader tool to remove the stock suspension (can get away with a small flat head bit but needs to be of hex type not screwdriver type (http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...ension/ES3894/). A strut top tool to undo the strut top (http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...ion/ES2219682/) Also got away with the biggest 21mm socket you can find and grinding down the sides.. And yeah spring compressors depending on what your doing.

I just received mine yesterday- some crappy copies from China. Half of it fit correctly but I had to cable tie the other half in (which is what I was gonna do anyways as I'm sure they'll try to pop out again).

Was wondering if any of you guys use instagram? At first I thought it was a bit stupid, but then I added alot of VW guys and boom, constant stream of cars (particularly VW's)

fortunately it was a tandem trailer, scary part was I looked in the rear view and saw smoke, did a double take and as I was looking the drivers side rear tandem wheel decided that it didn't want to go the same was as me and bounced down the oncoming lane for a few seconds (luckily no one was coming towards us) and then went bush. I pulled over as safely as I could, put the hazards on and went a searching in the scrub for the wheel. found it fairly quickly and then put it in the boot and drove to a truck stop about 500 meters up the road so we could take my wife's car off the trailer to reduce weight, thats when we discovered that the nut holding the towball in place was also gone, so a trip into Renmark and much searching by my wife found us another tow ball complete with nut to replace mine.
A good time was had by all that night I can tell you.
Then the Mitsu stealer that had my daughters car turned out to be a complete ahole as soon as he got his money for the work he did on my daughters little iO. He pointed us to her car then sat back and watched as I hand winched it on the trailer with a bloody converted truckies tie down strap winch that was attached to the trailer. No gearbox in daughters car so we couldn't drive it on, and he never bothered to even offer to maybe give a push.
Anyway, its home now waiting for a gearbox to present itself so we can get it fixed locally.

                  • There was a bit big knock from the engine bay tonight when I gave it a bit of gas it wasnt too hard, it then started to shake a lot so I limped it home luckily I was just down the road.

Got it up on jacks to check out the cvs they looked OK so I so kept looking then found this.

Its the drivers side engine mount

How easy is it to fix??

Now just have to get the snapped bolt out I've been trying it with a stud puller wrench but does anyone have any other ideas?

                        • Wouldn't have been wiser to get a new bolt from VW. Aren't they stretch bolts, one time use ?.

                          Tried an easy out ?

Yeah my plan is to get new ones from VW but their parts shop closed at 12 today I just need to have both bolts in to get it around to a mechanic to check for other damage.

Saw the easy outs, only problem is the location I would need a drill extension and I would be risking not drilling in straight with where it is. Has anyone had success with easy outs on bolts this big before.
