What have you done to your mk4 (golf/bora) today?

The rear bumper under the abs plastic bumper is attached to the rear panel with 4 bolts. Simply bolts on flat to the rear panel. When removed it is noticed that it covers 2 square holes the the legs of the towbar slot into and bolt up through the body.

Neither are attached to the suspension in any way.

I imagine they would both offer a similar level of lateral support.

So that being said, one of the best things I did that sharpened the feeling of the steering and stiffen up the back a heap was to attach a whiteline rear anti sway bar - best bang for buck handling modification IMO.

PBW, car looks nice.

Replaced front left steering knuckle/hub carrier, has been a bit bent since day one oif the big brake conversion - causing too much negative camber.
Ordered a second hand one from AVS/Eurospares - perfect. Quick wheel alignment and back in business.
Have to pull off the rear ABS bumper after the towbar fit, didnt quite cut enough away and the panel gaps are too big

Picked mine up again today. Wallet is another 1300 odd lighter.
Geez it drives nice and quietly now.
I drove a few Jettas on the weekend, next week I will have a 2 VW garage !

Changed my radio over as my pioneer screen has shat itself and this should fix my rev limiter issue... AND IT HAS! Two years of crap performance, no cruise control, Unsmooth engine and other stuff not working all due to a wire in the head unit my god. Damn its nice to have that power back!

That's awesome news. Gives a bit of food for thought in ensuring the electrics are all looked after as well as the mechanicals. Glad it's sorted - you must be stoked.

Agreed!, just looking at mine today realising that I need to colour code my rub strips to help the continuity.. maybe even before finding a black interior.

Standard bumper, kit isnt on the car, all standard.Pics as soon as i get motivated and download them off my phone.

Went to VicRoads today and now the engine change is official!

To put on a towbar:

remove lights, undo screws that are under them, undo screws in wheel well, bumper pulls off.

undo the 4 bolts holding on the original bar:



Under it there are two holes - insert towbar and bolt up - body holes will be factory covered and take a little finding. Scrape off some body deadener and pull off the sticky bit that's over the hole.
i needed to drill a new hole in the towbar leg to get it to fit right (bar here is just inserted for the pic, not fully square):



wiring harness was plug and play, very nice, replace bumper, test, then tow stuff!
