Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

How are you tackling the rear engine mount (non gearbox side)?
I'd imagine you're using the 12v engine bracket?

Yep. I have all 12v stuff bolted to the 24v block. Have to use the 12v oil cooler to clear the front engine mount, or external oil cooler.

Using all 12v coolant stuff on the 24v, crackpipe, thermo housing and hoses.

Good to know that cooling gear is compatible.
How are you approaching the headers / exhaust manifold?
Looks like yours is a MKV motor so you'd have the angled OEM manifolds to help dodge the 12v rear mount bracket.

Cutting the 3 bolt flange off stock manifolds, 2.25" v band to 2.25" downpipes.

Lost my crack pipe. So postponed on all the VR fun

Been doing little things. Finished mounting the 02J shifter.

Degreased all the engine bay. Had 15mm of grease everywhere!

Tucked all the wires i could/be bothered in the chassis legs, rest is inside braided sleeve and tucked away.

Most of the dash installed, along with 3.5 needles in the cluster.

                  Best of all.

The motor is back at my house. Awaiting it's not so destiny!

                          More waste of time stuff.

Painted the front crossmember, solid front bushings and the trans mount.

Super dodgy once over on the starter
Rear and trans mount brackets in silver. Looks more chrome though!

All in Aussie's finest export. Because all mk3's should be done cheap as possible!

Bitching out on doing the gearbox. But did finally swap over to the 02j selector tower.

Trusty EAA Engineering power steering loop kit in.

Cleaned out the fuel tank before putting the fuel pump housing back in.
