    • Hey all, just doing some stuff in the garage today, can I remove these 2 bits of plastic or are they actually handy? located just in front of the front wheels/under the bumper for reference. Thanks.

      • They'll help keep those parts of the engine bay clean. If you're not worried about that, there shouldn't be an issue. I think they've been removed on both my mk3's, before I got my hands on them.

I would've thought more so they were windage trays? to help the flow of air under the car at speed? isn't going to hurt removing them either way; i'm sure 99% of mk3's don't have them anymore, lol

          • Ah thanks you two. I'll remove them as they are hanging down and looking ugly haha. Cheers

This. Help with aero dynamics, cooling and keeping the engine bay a bit cleaner from my understanding

                    • Quick question; can i splice into the boot light and wire an LED strip onto it? Is it safe if done properly?

Yes, I've done it, but since removed, going to change the colour.
No need to splice, get the connector and put your wires in the holes, they should be small enough.

Then go a bit down on both cables and tape them together, then tape it to the wall of the boot. This way it's still clean and easy to switchback if you change your mind.
