Good things going on in this thread mate. I hadn't read through if for almost a year I reckon. It's come a long way Hopefully we can catch up at GAD too.
When's the 5X100 swap on the Vento going to happen? You've surely gotta rock the Vento cup wheels on a Vento at some point, they look awesome with a fat tyre.
The 'vert could be your daily party-brapp-basket (the car looks like Satan's picnic basket) and the Vento could be your track whore... afterall the Golf got crazy understeer so maybe a bit of booty out the back on the track could be a good thing.

keen man, not sure that i'll be in this thing if I do though

haha, well the new wheels had to be drilled to 5x100 since 4x100 got too close to the 5x130 pattern So the 5stud will be going on the cabby now, lol....
actually the golf got its ass out when pushed, was super easy and fun to drive hard.... but since this vento isn't going to be worth much to me to sell, maybe I should turn it into a ratty street sleeper......mmm
update on the engine, I have no spark and in the midst of diagnosing i've sent off some vital components for polishing, haha, so I can't attempt starting it till they come back... it'll be tight making GAD, i'm pushing for it....
So whilst i'm not getting the engine started, i'm using that time to pull more parts off it to refinish and replace seals.... my local dealer is getting a hammering, haha
Side note. i'm stripping the new wheels but hating it, any whores have any tips? would love to home make a chemical bath for them but not sure where to start. next stop google....
given up on getting the new wheels finished and on since time isn't on my side, again....
finished up the interior today and the seats are back in with the new rails, and well, they're low, haha. it's going to feel like i'm sitting on the ground but at least I won't be looking like a giant anymore, instead i'll be looking like "do I even have a license?!".....
Also had a line made up by my local Pirtek team for my power steer delete but there was no way it was going to fit due to the closeness of the chassis rail; so that was a wasted 65bucks, lol. So I got onto EAA Engineering and ordered their premade loop along with their machined pulleys for the alternator and waterpump
This was such a pitta to get in with much dirt and grit in the eyes and many F's and C's....haha
Yeh man, shouldn't empty it because it needs fluid for lubrication but can't be full either, so a turn of the wheels lock to lock to bleed it a little is the go apparently.....
Got to finishing off the interior panels that I started ages ago! haha, pleased with how they've turned out, they've been a labour of love that's for sure...... I tell you though, these hard plastic bits a so brittle, that damn clamshell has cracked on me a couple of times now So i'm going to be EXTRA careful with it now that it's done :/
Also i've been continuing to polish and paint various items, most of which will reveal too much but here's a taste
I drilled out the rivets on the inline water filler cap so that I could polish the body up and also dismantled the catch can to paint the body. The two domed items are strut top finishers though i've managed to misplace one of the "discs" currently trying to get the guy to send me a replacement out :/ ...
