Good luck with transmission problems! ...Hopefully my little whistling transmission noise will go away before I have to take the gearbox out lol

I went and bought a Haynes manual today, realised its pretty bloody hard to source a Bentley manual here in Adelaide, and still found it hard to find the Haynes one!sigpic

I got mine off ebay $70 bucks shipped to the door - brand new.Originally posted by Lorenz View Post... its pretty bloody hard to source a Bentley manual here in Adelaide...

as for the clutch problem, I had that happen... i think i posted something about it a while back. can you pull the clutch off the floor with your hand? it should stay up but then it will snap back down as soon as you touch it again.

i'll see if i can find the thread

 edit: found it

this explains what happened in my case...

it sound like pretty much exactly the same thing, so you'll be pleased to know that it will cost you about $13 to fix. Last edited by bboyskidz; 28-02-2008, 08:01 AM. Last edited by bboyskidz; 28-02-2008, 08:01 AM.

Is it just a spring mechanism that falls out, causing the clutch pedal NOT to come back up? I've heard of that problem before. Gosh I hope it doesn't happen to me

Bad timing too I must say, aye Lorenz??

Ok, so it appears that it isnt the same part that has broken after all. Went and bought the replacement part from VW this morning, and the same part on the clutch setup is fine, so something else has fkd up

Is there a spring in the pedal box that could have screwed up and cause me issues?sigpic

 Thanks mate

Well I had a mobile mechanic come out on Friday to have a look at the car, he reckons its a screwed clutch or something major inside the box, so its off at a shop now getting a new clutch put in and sorting out, so hopefully I have it back soon. Costing a fair bit more than I anticipated so that will put off a few mods I had in mind for a while not happy but I guess I have no choice. Dont think the car has had a new clutch since new, so prolly about time it was done. 130k old now, so kinda surprised its held up that long not happy but I guess I have no choice. Well I got the car back on Tuesday after 2 weeks of getting fixed. Had to wait for parts to come from interstate so they could fix something that snapped inside the gearbox, and got a new clutch fitted at the same time as the old original one was fair shagged. Much nicer to drive now

Car sadly being towed from home

Went and took a few pics whilst passing a nice spot up in the hills yesterday. After adding the new lip and giving the car a well earned wash I thought it was only appropriate to do so!

I had a spare pod filter lying around from my old R31 so thought I'd chuck it on the Golf to see if/what difference it would make, and have noticed slight better response! Also sounds a bit better, nice grunty induction noise

When doing this I saw a split hose that will need replacing. Im not quite sure what its for, but hoping someone can help me out
Where can I get a new one or does anyone have a spare one (new or second hand) that I can get buy? Any help would be greatly appreciated

 Little update again!
Finally have a matching dual chamber headlight after a bit of a mixup with getting the wrong parts sent haha, but all good now. Looks much better now!
Also bought a MK4 gearknob and boot off ebay cheap as, all put in but needa shorten the shifter a tad to stop the boot from stretching so much it pulls the boot off the surround. Knew this might be an issue before I put it on.
Paitned the VW badge on the front grill for the hell of it, looks better until I can afford a proper badgless one anyway

Looking at getting some coilovers made up at some point aswell. Mate of mine is now making them for all sorts of cars, just need a spare set of struts and shocks for him to use as I want to keep an original set for if/when I wanna sell the car (or get defected!).Last edited by Lorenz; 01-04-2008, 06:18 PM.sigpic

And just for the hell of it, heres a pic from today!
