Cheers guys.
Nothing much to update.
Didn't take the Vento to GAD. Was still unsure about driving it for extended periods with the lower gear ratios.
100km/h on the cluster is about 3k and 110km/h is about 3100 rpm, and pretty sure the Speedo is out a touch too so would be revving higher again.
Hopefully getting some new rear beam bushes shortly as I believe that's the cause of the big knock over bumps.
And eyeing off some coilovers as the cup kit isn't firm enough.
Picked up a power steering fluid cap/stick with a black top to replace my green, just need to get myself a black dip stick now.

No drying here. Blow dry via driving maybe haha
But yep, weather has been terrible here. Not much motivation to get the detailing gear out and continue on the paint work.

I have given up on trying to keep the Caddy clean until the weather dries out up here. Although, father-in-law came over this afternoon, he has my CL look clean, which was always hard to do because the dragon green (like the black) shows up every bit of dust and dried water droplet.1997 Golf CL, 2011 Caddy Life TDI, 2007 Golf TDI, 1996 Vento GL (red), 2008 Skoda Octavia TDI

Nope mother-in-law's Hyundai i45 gets the garage, both the CL and the Vento are living outdoors with the Vento under a car cover. Once we get the Vento roadworthy I will get a cover for the CL. My CL has spent almost its entire life outdoors, hence the peeling clearcoat.1997 Golf CL, 2011 Caddy Life TDI, 2007 Golf TDI, 1996 Vento GL (red), 2008 Skoda Octavia TDI

ah fair enough.
Got the vento on the hoist briefly
slight adjustment of the exhaust seems to have solved one of the knocking noises.
Found a few new holes from where the exhaust has been hitting on the beam.
can confirm the passenger side beam bush is gone and the drivers side not far behind.
also missing a few grommets/plugs in the floor, hopefully order some new ones.
Should be a fair bit quieter to drive once these are sorted

sorted one or two issues.
I've had a slight metallic rattle coming from the front of the car, I assumed the heat shield but no luck on tightening that.
but narrowed it down the other day when I had a huge scratching noise from the front left wheel.
turns out the brake rotor dust shield had all 3 bolts loose, one had actually backed right out and been rubbing on the rotor (I assume the louder of the noises).
tightened all 3 and all sorted
gave the car a bit of a work out on the weekend, found the 5th gear syncro is on its way out. rather noisy when the gearbox fluid was hot, noise seemed to away after cruising for a bit, more reason to hurry up and get the tdi 5th sorted I guess.
New wheels and basically brand new Kuhmos on for daily duties, Audi wheels for sale if anyone is keen.

nothing new other than trying to give the cooling system as massive cleanout.
the dirty water/coolant is never ending...
Im assuming bits of the old water pump are chilling out rusting away and the car been in pieces for so long as prob let all sorts of dirt and filth in
phone snap while cruising some of the local twisties
