    • With your ABS you just need to find out whether it's the wiring or the sensor. Here's the fault code site - 00290 - Ross-Tech Wiki - you can just type in those codes on there and it'll tell you what you need to look for. With the ABS faults it says to check the wiring and sensor - so you'll need to do that before I come back from the UK if you want me to get the parts for you haha.

Regarding the engine code - I probably should've said last night there are a few Vagcom codes can be 'ignored' as such. I have one on my car that doesn't make any sense but everything's fine. This could be the case with yours cause the Ross Tech site says "Intermittent codes are often stored during low outside temperature when the battery capacity goes down and may be ignored." - I wouldn't worry about it too much, if the car wasn't starting due to battery issues then maybe? I'll clear it for you and re-scan it and see if it pops up again when the cars warm.

      • clear all the faults...drive it and see if they come up again...then go from there.

What section was the first code in?

Pretty much sounds like either a fuel pump screwing up, coil pack (about to die) or the throttle body is dirty and tripping with the sensor so its not closing properly! If you have the ignition on and then go into the engine bay and open the throttle and close it again does it do all these random clicking noises?

        • Regarding the codes for the abs, is your abs light on your VR active ? what i mean does it light up and switch off after a few seconds on startup ? i know alot a VRs that have had the bulb removed/disconnected due to abs problems.... it may be the case with yours and you only realised an abs problem once you had the car scanned .

          • Ok james Ill get on to that.

Im going to clean the TB anyway cause I want to do a DIY on it.
Hope thats what the issue is,And not the other things you pointed out Stu.

With the new floor in the boot.

I think the sub in the wheel well isnt going to happen Hence Chop N change build thread..
Its going to make it to hard if I need to work on an amp or one dies to replace it.

So at this stage the sub is on hold And ill possibly order a Pancake tank now.
Will just go with a removable subbox for car shows,But ill make it unique like my Eski-Sub

            • Stu - The first code was in the engine section - we'll have another play with vagcome and see what it comes up with.

and mrVR6exy - Reece's dash doesn't work so he doesn't get any warning lights haha - but nah his ABS has been playing up for a while now!

                Cleaned.

                What I used. ( Awesome stuff! )

All up this job took me 1 Hr.
(The alan keys holding the TB on were the hardest thing, FK they were tight ! )

Went for a drive Feels a little bit smoother...At one stage I gave it a boot fool and it put me back in my seat stopped for 1sec like it lost all power then straight back into it again..Ill have to get you to come around before you go to the UK james see whats happening..And yes the ABS light never turned off on my dash So I Disconnected the bulb

                  • Taking the throttle body off is like a 2 minute job anyway, may as well just do it. haha.

That my friend is 100% Correct.

Got a fellow VR6 owner bringing around his Air Sensor today.
Im a little worried this is beyond just a sensor, when I was thinking & telling the old man about the car .
No Coolant fans = Hot engine, water black crap out of the exhaust = Cracked head. I Really hope not.

Im just thinking of the worst scenario at the moment.
