Hey all..
I thought It was time to share what Ive done To my VR6 so far...
I have a build thread On vwgolf.net But I see theres soo many more vr6 owners here .

First couple days of owning it stock.

first issue was the roof lining, To this day I still havent done anything to it ! besides rip it out.Its in the too hard basket,I have a aftermarket sunroof and the original lining is ****ed.

Then I went with this for a while.

Now to this.At this stage, colour will prob change before they go back in.


Went a bit nutts with checkers




Got coils.

Then came the roof rack bike holder.

plus wind faring.


Stereo was next,Im a HUGE music fan & I love my bass

Ive been a fan of hoodrides for ever & rusting the bonnet was on top of my list.


Plus my rusty original dragster bike

All checkers were painted matte black,Back wing also

The price u pay for a low car.



4mm steel should help for a while till I get around to making a full bash plate.

So Ive gone over the car in 400,Im so happy with the car its very straight for its age
(1996) only a few Very Miner dents, Im Still to sand the roof.
All doors are coming off during the week.
And undercoat sprayed on this week.


To DO list
Just brought a smaller antenna.
Deleting the back wiper.
Deleting side indicators.
Im really considering shaving all the doors Ive done a lil research and Im 50-50 atm.

Nice progress mate, whats planned in the way of paint?
IMO don't shave the handles, it doesn't work well on 4 doors (if any).
I'd just shave the rear wiper and badge, and the side indicators if your not scared of getting pulled over for not having them...
Got any new wheels in mind? Pulling the arches before new paint goes on might be a good plan, nothing worse than risking ruining fresh paint later down the track!

im pretty sure its not illegal to shave side markers. mine are, and cops have never said anything when i get inspected.

I did a little reading regarding shaving side markers a while back, i think its a bit of a grey area, as a fair few cars came without them from factory, however if you have them then you cant get rid of them, or something, can't remember. Chances are if you dont throw a crazy body kit on and say its the original body work and it never came with them a police man might just take your word for it. If I were to respray my car mine would be gone Glad you got rid of the checkers on the lip, was just too busy looking i think, didnt like it

Colour will be a matte finish thats all im saying atm.And not black.
Yeah I may pass on the shaved doors too many issues.
VERY good point about the arches atm I have a set of 16inch steelies so I best be buying some tyres and making sure they fit !

If the cops pick on me for not having side markers they need a life ! im going to do it no matter what.

Look forward to seeing how it comes out with Matte paint - haven't seen too many (except mine and some properly done ones on the vortex!) Steelies will be cool as well, I was thinking about going that way as well for awhile!
