I now realise I should've done that. Doesn't look to hard though, only thing I'm worried about is the timing.

Here's what the old pump looked like. Has so far taken me about an hour to strip everything and get it all ready for a new timing belt, which I get Monday.

All going good, been driven daily without any real problem for a few weeks now. Got it engineered at consulmotive.

Bought some coilovers, should hopefully be here early next week. Also ordering an lsd sometime this week, just need to sell a few more parts I have to fund the gearbox rebuild.

Bought a wavetrac lsd from gti imports and got my spare 02j gearbox built with it. Swapping out the dual mass flywheel to a single and getting it lightened. Going to use a vr6 clutch and hopefully get it all installed sometime over the next 2 weeks.

He's pretty good. Hard to get in contact with sometimes but he's a great help. Usually has all the parts you need and at very good prices. Also looking for a red bonnet if anyone has one?

Brian brought my gearbox over with the wavetrac lsd installed. Sent of my flywheel to get lightened and should have that back Monday. Just have to swap the cable clutch and shifter stuff over and it should be ready to be installed Monday.

Got the new gearbox installed, complete with a lightened flywheel and vr6 clutch. Took me about 10 hours to get it all done and then I couldn't find reverse, turns out the bottom part if the selected must've broken when I installed it so I swapped it out for the one from my 02a. The car accelerates so much better now with the lsd, also noticed much less under steer I'm the wet. I think next I'm going to modify the shifter to make the throw much shorter, shouldn't take much more than an afternoon.

Used the engine crane to support the engine while the gearbox was out.

Picked up another gti, hopefully get it running sometime soon. Not 100% what's wrong but i was told it over heated. So I'll probably swap in another 8v.

Apart from the engine swap what plans do you have for the new one?

                              Cheers

So for not too much, I'll put the black wheels of my red golf on it, hopefully find a cheap set of coilovers, fix all the body and problems it has and paint the engine bay to get rid of all the surface rust. In the future I'll end up either 1.8t fwd or do something extreme like rwd or 4wd.
