Copied your pictures so it's easier to see.

Great looking car. That engine bay is identical to mine.

Was it much hassle getting it registered?

    Cheers

ok all good thanks mate anyway I bought the car couple weeks ago and it was registered so I don't know if it would of been a hassle I guess not but again not sure only thing is vic roads have the car as a 77 but its a 89 they apparently don't have it in the system its due for rego next month hopefully no dramas it passed a roadworthy with no problems. Is your a GTI?

Now it's time to get some more power out of it, like a real GTI should have. The Aussie and Japanese MK2's had low pollution heads with smaller intake valves compared to the European MK2's. They have at least 15 hp more than our engines.

A 2 litre from a MK3 goes straight in and is a noticeable improvement for only a couple of hundred dollars. Use the GTI head from your motor with a 2 litre head gasket. You'll only get another 5 hp but there's a big improvement in torque which lets you eat the hills (or carry 4 mates without noticing the extra weight).
