its so funny to see so many mk2's next to each other when im used to seeing one every 4-5 months on the road out here

Well, I have to say that I am seriously impressed !!! In Europe people started throwing these great cars away and they are getting extremely rare and there actually is someone in Japan taking good care of them !!! Thankyou! Yeah, all the blokes at the workshop are serious Mk2 nuts. I was very overwhelmed when we went to the second yard ( I had only seen the ones at the shop yard) ...seeing all those mk2s in one place was a sight to see! But yeah, same here, I would say I see at least 3 a day on the road. And that just in Asaka-shi!!
By far the most popular Golf here is mk3 wagon and mk5 GTI.
