    I am speechless ...

great to see that someone still values these cars ! Hardly any left in Europe as people literally throw them away "en mass" and emission rules are getting tighter by the year. I wonder for how much longer I will be able to hold on to my Golf, which is now the oldest car in my entire area !

In the EU older vehicles pay more road taxes and are often even banned from cities in order to force people to trade up ! Stupid dictatorship !!!

I love the photos mate ! Hope you'll soon get your car back and that you'll enjoy Japan ! How are you adapting to the winter there ?

Are the mk1 2 and 3 golfs that rare down under? Ask the south african guys. over her they are all over. We even have a countrywide network of spare shops called "VAG GOLFWAGEN" Anything u want u can get here exept the golf and jetta mk3 interior items are getting hard to find.

Here's a link to the garage in Tokyo.

              フォルクスワーゲンゴルフII専門店ス ピニングガレージ。ゴルフ2のことだªã‚‰ãŠä»»ã›ä¸‹ã•い!

Looks like they still like their MK2's.

If anyone can read Japanese it would be interesting to know if they ship cars to Oz.

I speak the language of internationally offensive gestures and I can tell you that specific gesture is one that may not lean towards friendly exporting of their captive MK2s.

Hey All, Newbie here I hope someone might be able to help me out here since its golfs from Japan I recently bought a 2door mk2 golf (Japanese import) it was advertised as a gti but I have my doubts and when it comes to engines I'm no good mechanically in general useless anyway so I'm not sure if it is or isn't could anyone tell me what I should be looking out for?

                  Thanks, Dado

Pictures of the car mate. What engine is fitted, what speedo and rev counter. A picture of the build sticker from the wheel well in the boot or service book, if by some miracle you have that.

thanks for the reply Gavin. I got a few pictures up on my profile page along with the sticker from the boot I have a service book as well but that's all in Japanese I'll take some pics of the engine tomorrow and put them up I think its just a base model but yea it was advertised as a gti so I'm not 100% sure

                          Hi Dado,
                          Welcome to the forums.
It's easy enough for someone to stick some badges and fairings on a golf and call it a GTI.
                          Let's hope you've got a real one!
3 doors are pretty rare as they were only brought in as private imports.
                          Cheers

The boot sticker shows RV engine code, same as Australia Mk2 GTI engine, I think it's a genuine Japan spec GTI. Post a engine bay pic then it can be confirmed.
There is a Japanese guy who has a website of his Mk2 Gti, his Mk2 engine is also RV. Try google to see if the site still live.
