Any plans to extend the cage so that it ties in the front suspension towers? You've got it across the rear arches which has to help stiffen things at the back but nothing at the front.
Hey Paul, yeah i thought about doing that but ive got a front strut brace to help and i only went a bolt in cage given the frequency of its use being twice a year at this stage. U reckon it would aid?
It would help but you're probably looking at a poofteenth of a second per lap. For a serious all out racer with rock hard suspension it would make more difference.
Cheers mate. On another note, the car is getting a cam gear and timing adjustment to give more top end. A tune up and a new shift kit. Should feel a whole lot better on the track after that. Im considering a 2L abf engine conversion in the distant future
Took the nugget out to SMSP south circuit yesterday for the RTDC track day. Had a blast hopping the kerbs and not coming dead last on the timing sheets managed a best of 1m 10sec. Following are some pics with the new livery thanks to Volksmuller at Annangrove for their good service and work
Oi Russ, just some random questions,
What type and weight of engine oil do you run?
And do you hear lifter/tappet noise during/after high rpm runs?
Hey ryan, its been a while since ive changed it but ill have to check. Think it was a nulon older engine with high kms type of oil, not sure of its viscosity but i will check next time im in the garage. Dont hear any tappet noise after the run, do hear it before the run. So far its done 4 track days and touch wood no dramas with motor, tyres and or brakes!
Did you ever weigh it? There's one on Edition38 that's down to 780 kg. Something for you to aim for.
Cheers
Paul
Hey paul,
Never weighed it unfortunately but thats a good idea. Theres a weighbridge close to me so next time i drive by during business hours with the trailer and car, ill chuck it on.
I can get a fair bit more weight out by using dry ice on the floors, changing windows and remove unused wiring still lying around.
