  • My Mk2 Golf GTi

    Hey guys,

Just bought a 1990 Mk2 Golf Gti from Melbourne on Sunday, and drove it to Sydney same day.

Planning on getting to the track eventually.

Did a bit of internet searching, would like to do an engine conversion, something that will bolt up easily. Any ideas what and where to get it?

Some people like to do avr6 conversion, and others do the 1.8T engine from the golf mk4.

Check the build and restoration forum for some builds. I would love to know the cost of doing a1.8T conversion.

I think CamdenGTI can do them as well.

      1.8L 8V (your current engine)
      2.0L 8V (from a MK3)
      1.8L 16V
      2.0L 16V

      Just a few.

Heaps on this topic in the MK2 section.
Internet is a good spot to start looking for engine's/donor cars.
Matt at Camden GTI can help you out too.

$1500-$2k for an engine, wiring, CPU? I dunno, how much are these engines? I've done an sr20det conversion in a pulsar before, so would like to try the install myself, probably with advice guidance of vwwatercooled...

Cheers Damian! Let the fun begin!

Got quite a list of stuff to buy and then repair. Starting with the engine mounts which should fix up the tramping out of 1st.
