Thanks stiggy i was very happy with the times. Basically, the car has no weight in it anymore, no power steering, heater, ac, nothing. I also put some worn hankook ventus slicks on the front and they were awesome. Other factor helping me to wipe off 7 seconds was practice. Only my 2nd time to SMP eastrn creek, so learning how to attack it in what gear and what line is the best way through a corner, also takes seconds off. Im sure my car is capable of shaving a few more seconds off next time.
Martin, its pretty fiddly. Best bet is to read through the diy sticky thread in mk2 section and follow the process.
The job is full of small hidden hard to get to clips etc... Good luck
FYI racecars have demisters. Especially rally cars, how do you think they can see drivin through snow and cold temperatures??
Though for how often Russ will race this car and Australia's warm climate, he may not need it. Only time will tell.
good point indeed but my goal was to save weight and i never factored weather into the equation. so far having driven it only twice since Feb 2011 on a race track - both times in perfect conditions, I think i chose the right path...
definitely taking it to the VW nationals in May... See what a 300,000km engine can do around wakefield...
