Ours was exactly the same and we too tried a torx but that didnt work either. We ground down each side with a dremel and put a spanner over it and cracked it off, I think we added a little heat as well.. Thats why no mechanics want to touch our cars!!
The 16V ABF required us to remove the whole front end!
Good luck!
And.. Im sure we replaced all three with Stainless new ones!
So where'd you get the 22m MS from? Can I ask what stock is?
I've got MK3 hubs/calipers to go on, thought I might do it all at once.
Got mine from GAP, or just ask an auto store for a 22mm MK3 GL, non ABS, MS.
Standard is 20mm (2 Brake ports in my case), 22mm uses 4 ports but I just blocked 2 off with bleed nipples.
If I can find a MK3 GL being wrecked nearby, I'd like to swap the brake set-up over too.
MK2 - *Insert list of dealer purchased extra's/standard features here* 80 series - The MK2's BIG, Sooty, polar opposite... HAHAHA
Ryan, is that a A/C switch next to the slider control ? I have only seen this in USA production Mk2. I prefer a dedicated A/C rather than the slider control automatically turn it on.
What is the funny looking switch next to it ? I found your car has a lot of unique feature not normally in Mk2.

Yep, its a separate switch all of it's own.
Switch on, slider to position 1, 2 or 3 or demist.
The thing beside it with the LED's is (according to my manual) is some sort of immobilizer/alarm warning light.
The system is currently in 'service' mode as somebody switched the system off (with a key I was not given)
I'm still learning things about this car, a real 'parts bin special'
