Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

As usual, just some more maintenance work.
Swapped in a MK3 weighted shift rod, woah, what an improvement in shifting/feel!
Thanks to kideuro for that
Purchased a hydraulic rear engine mount (thanks to discussion on ED38 ) and had that installed.
Again, big improvement in drive-ability when the engine isn't jumping around the bay.
^Old mount wasn't terrible but needed replacement.
The hydraulic damper was actually in good condition apart from the completely melted/FUBAR'd rubber bushing on one end!
Threw in a K&N panel filter, just for laughs (the paper filter was due for a change)
Stiggy, have fun with those solid mounts haha.MK2 - *Insert list of dealer purchased extra's/standard features here*

Some of you may get a laugh out of this....
Recently acquired a 2nd hand PS setup, so I thought I'd test it out.
No leaks at 650rpm and the pump/rack 'respond' well to each other.

After a noisy trip to Toowoomba and back, decided it was time to finish some things.
Used the rest of the leftover Dynamatt in all 4 doors,
Replaced the old vapour barriers in the doors (old yellow, mummified vapour barrier below)
And had the pov African spec door cards reupholstered,
An exterior pic, just for you Water Boy
Have removed the old black vinyl that used to wrap itself around the car + new chrome door handle inserts.

I'm definitely getting mine now, too
I can see the mid section is just a straight pipe without a resonator - was this an option or is standard like this? Also, did it come with all the brackets / hangers / rubber mounts? Let us know how you go with installation.- Mk2 Golf GTI 16v, 2-door, Tornado Rot, BBS RS, 1988 - SOLD
