Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Finally fixed my handbrake. The mk4 rear calipers are too big for the mk3 handbrake cable end to sit in, I attached a pic of the difference. Had to unbolt the mk4 mount and bend it in so it matched the mk3 caliper mount. Nothing exciting really [emoji1787]

        Cheers

So begins the tail light swap over. As I have the VR6 wiring loom in the whole car, I had to figure out which wire goes to which part of the mk3 tail light, then convert that over to the mk2 tail light. Done my little drawing, now I just have to chop the plug and solder away...

And now wired up, works a charm. Luckily there were other spade connectors on the back of the globe holder so was able to fit them all on easily.

Windscreen in yiew! All the glass is now back in, got some new window regs for it as I was missing them. Just need to tidy up the front end now, tinker around and get the door cards recovered then this thing is getting seriously close to getting back on the road wow

Stupid junky rubbish aftermarket bumpers. The side holders that pull the bumpers back in to the quarter panels just snap so easily, absolute junk quality. So just slapped it up with fibreglass, should do the trick now. Also snapped the welds that held the captive nuts on too so rewelded them as well. Definitely not worth the money at all.

In the mean time, wheels are off, getting them ready for a lick of paint...

                          • One step closer to getting it back on the road. The "to do" list must be down to one page now.

                            • I think so! Extremely close, and not too much money to be spent as well which is always a relief, just tyres and a new battery.
