I know! it's exactly the same with me - i love it though, feels alot better getting around town!! I picked it up off Byron on these forums!Originally posted by sports racer View PostIt's funny how you change as you get older. Great pickup, where did you find it?
Cheers
Paul
This week I have to order some service parts/gaskets, wheel lock bolts, flush the coolant and oil, tap some senders in, mount gauges, order balljoints so i can put all the front strut bars, bushes etc in next week then it'll be engine mounts, followed by a track day that weekend
might even put in the new cam if i have time

Thanks guys! Blacking out is on the list, there's a few bits I need to fix up etc, just getting the time to do it is hard! The suspension work and engine work takes priority and I'm struggling with that before I do anything else haha!

Looks great...
You may wish to black out the radiator supports behind the grille.
It almost looks like the BMW 'kidneys' from that distance...
Black tape works great as a non permanent solution...

Hahaha yeah man getting busy! Thanks, they arrived perfectly
Today was another productive day, not without it's issues though! I installed the electronic dizzy kit, new leads, new coil and dummied up the intake (for now). Ran into a tiny problem with the coil - there weren't alot of places to mount it.

I thought it would mount okay behind the battery (rather than have it on the fuel side) - however the mounting bracket fell about 50mm short of the engine bay due to the king lead being too short.
I was then pointed in the direction of a bloke who ran an aircraft supplies/repair shop, who had some 5mm ID steel tubing which he chopped into three 50mm pieces for me!

After a trip to the bolt shop, voila!

Problem solvered, notice intake (really not a big fan but it's gonna have to do for now..) - hope theres not much rain!

Also installed some cheapie flag mirrors I got a while back
and reinstalled new brake lines in the rear after yesterdays 'rage-chop' haha

Yeah that's the plan! A lot of little things to do to the daily, and a lot of big things to do to the black car! Both will. Be registered, however the black car probably won't last long on the road haha

Awsome work. So the silver and black car is your daily and the black car will become your track hack?

Had another busy day today, under the other car this time though!
The car was out on the street, so this was my setup for the day:

I don't think the brakes had ever been touched!

Out with the old, in with the new!

Only issue I ran into was the brake line fittings being practically welded together. I have brand new soft lines for the rear sitting here so I just chopped the old ones out. Hence the reminder visible on the windscreen:

Alot more to come tomorrow!!! Super keen to get this around Lakeside at the VWW track day in April
