Yeah rob sounds good! I was gonna give you a bell this weekend about getting the process started when my interior arrives. It's on its way somewhere between the UK and here on snail mail because the shipping was a million times cheaper. Should be here either next week or the week after though hopefully

Got some sad news last week - my fibreglass interior from LWSDesign that i ordered a few months ago got lost in the mail but Lewis and Andrew are absolute champs and have sorted me out with a new one on it's way already!

I've been absolutely flat out doing Uni work and work work - finally got a finish before 3am (11pm woo) last night so I was able to get up early this morning and do something with my day!

Got this done today, it's a new template (W.I.P.) for my new dash with all new gauges, didn't finish the dimensioning but I won't until I find someone to make it up for me.

Liking the idea of that new dash!
I'm Also contemplating of customizing my dash out of fiberglass after I get my car on the road!
Hopefully everything works out! Good luck

Cheers guys! I actually have a very mint mk2 dash to put into the car when my fibreglass interior rocks up - so this is just to replace the stock bezel. After talking to a mate today who is the walking bible of metalworks and whatnot - i've decided on stainless with a nice finish. should look pretty good!! I'm too much of a pussy to play with fibreglass, especially when the smallest edge is only 2.5mm (from tacho to bezel) so i'm gonna leave it to the experts and see how it turns out! hopefully will look as i've planned it out on paper

Then.... rewiring but at least after that's done i'll be able to thrash the living daylights out of that poor 1.6 until i decide what i'm gonna do in the future haha.

Productive day in the garage today!! I woke up to some good news that my interior from LWS design (second one now because the first one got lost) will be here on Monday so I've started to prep the interior.

Test fitted my new dash - I dummied it up with the faceplate which came with it, but I'm still working on finishing up my design so I can get it made up.

Then stripped out all the interior which will be staying out - planning on cleaning the stuff off the floor and painting it all black and running no carpet. Any tips on what to use to get all the crud off??

Excuse the dildo shifter it's all I have to suit my gear stick as somebody chopped off the thread at one point in it's life

Then I took the front end apart to fix my bent tow point at the front, then tested it when I had to sweep the garage out as I couldn't drive the car haha

Chasing the other grill for the front if anyone knows of one?? I've heard they're pretty rare but you never know!

                  Annnddd all back together

Plan to scrub out the remaining deadener and unidentifiable gunk tomorrow and if the weathers good, paint this weekend! Then wiring next week and install my fibreglass gear Also need to pay rego at some point in the near future because it ran out on Sunday!

                    • Dry ice or a heat gun is your friend to remove sound deadner.

Then use carby cleaner to remove all the glue.

                      • I'm actually thinking of putting a dildo gearknob in mine, as the shifter with standard knob seems ridiculously short (not used to working with short shifters and knobs, pun intended).

                        • Today's progress - hopefully will have the floor sorted this weekend, have to do a bit of welding as the floor plan support has been crushed and rusted out from people not knowing how to jack the car up and using the sill

Sound deadener is an absolute %*&#(

                          • Bit more progress today!

just under 3kg removed so far.. only about halfway through!!

gonna have to re-plate the big holes in the floor pan, guessing they were drain holes when the deadener was laid?? also gonna have to re-weld the seams from floor to sill, the sealant holding it together before has turned to goop over the past 33 years.

hopefully will get that done this weekend and paint next week!!

                            • With welding happening this weekend(!) i'm hoping to start grinding tomorrow and cleaning up all the gunk back to bare metal!!

                              • Oh so close!

just the last bit behind the pedals left, then it's scrub time to get all of the glue out! I think it's really bad on the drivers side under the seat because it used to fill up with water there. same as behind the pedals.
