    • loving the 2 tone 4 door! the 9s(?) on the back look amazing even without pulled arches, seem to fit alright or is that just the pictures? how long till the black beast is back up do you think? and be super careful not to scratch the bay when its painted, looks shocking (first hand experience now hahahaha)
But no really, I like to look distinguished when I step out of the car. People are like, "wonder what he does for living."
I just reply, "your daughter, sir." - some dude on stanceworks

I had fixed half the broken crap but that just meant it was still halfway inoperable

        • Thanks guys! The 9s on the rear just fit - about 3mm clearance on the inside (coilover) and the guards have been rolled and slightly pulled - no scrub

I can't help myself lately, so good with my money then bam:

          SSR MK2 14x7 +12, 14x8 +-0

pretty much my perfect set of wheels for the black car. will help me get things moving along alot faster!!

          • I really need to make a thread for the silver car, and I also need to stop spending so much money.. haha the silver golf has been running odd lately, overfuelling, misfiring and what not - so I've replaced the carby and have all these goodies to go on (minus manifold, that's for the black car )

haha at the moment it's just a parts whore, slowly being stripped down to a shell, but it's time will come!!

haha thanks mate, can't wait to get them on an older vw where they belong

had a pretty slow start to today, but still managed to rip the refurbished rear beam from the black car and get it ready to go into the silver car. I've got some plans for the spare one i'll have - so updates on that will come very soon!

but for now the silver car gets the honour of an upgrade to mk3 rear drums, new bearings and new bushes! swapping them over tomorrow will be fun...

Picked it up off these forums actually! Tassie_euro_mk1 sold it to me so he may be able to shed some light on the situation, they've certainly changed the plans that I once had haha

                      • Had another busy day today, under the other car this time though!

The car was out on the street, so this was my setup for the day:

I don't think the brakes had ever been touched!

Out with the old, in with the new!

Only issue I ran into was the brake line fittings being practically welded together. I have brand new soft lines for the rear sitting here so I just chopped the old ones out. Hence the reminder visible on the windscreen:

Alot more to come tomorrow!!! Super keen to get this around Lakeside at the VWW track day in April

                        • Awsome work. So the silver and black car is your daily and the black car will become your track hack?

                          • Yeah that's the plan! A lot of little things to do to the daily, and a lot of big things to do to the black car! Both will. Be registered, however the black car probably won't last long on the road haha

                              • Hahaha yeah man getting busy! Thanks, they arrived perfectly

Today was another productive day, not without it's issues though! I installed the electronic dizzy kit, new leads, new coil and dummied up the intake (for now). Ran into a tiny problem with the coil - there weren't alot of places to mount it.

I thought it would mount okay behind the battery (rather than have it on the fuel side) - however the mounting bracket fell about 50mm short of the engine bay due to the king lead being too short.

I was then pointed in the direction of a bloke who ran an aircraft supplies/repair shop, who had some 5mm ID steel tubing which he chopped into three 50mm pieces for me!

After a trip to the bolt shop, voila!

Problem solvered, notice intake (really not a big fan but it's gonna have to do for now..) - hope theres not much rain!

Also installed some cheapie flag mirrors I got a while back and reinstalled new brake lines in the rear after yesterdays 'rage-chop' haha
