  • So its been a while that i updates, and its just because i've been damn lazy.

But anyway, insurance paid me out for that guy that hit me from behind, and im going to sand it down and fix the damage myself, so i can have a bit more to spend. I bought a 90amp alt, and i mounted it all. However the pulley wont align, and blah blah blah, i need to modify.
I stayed at school today to try and have a go to weld my old mk1 puley to the new one, as i need the V belt. Didnt work.. ill spend a bit more time on it tmoro and tnite.

Anyway, so im walking around the auto room at school. And i notice what seams to be a 32/36.Can anyone please assure me that it is one. If so im a very happy boy

Ps i mounted the mk3 alt differently to waht its ment to be, but it works for me better this way.

    • sure looks like it Bruh,

Last picture, see between the two mounting studs the flat face side? it has what looks like two rectangles. it should have the model number there.

But sure does look like a 32/36... grab it anyway XD

      • Nice work, George.

INA does an ABF alt. kit that has all the pulleys and a serpentine conversion ready to rock if you are interested. Comes with a 1.8t harmonic balancer too.

If you're keen, let me know the P/N of the alt. you have. I might be able to sort you out a kit minus the alternator if they are the same (they do look it from your pic).

Yep i checked it, its a 32/36 DGAV weeeeeee i love my teacher haha.
I've already cleaned it all, and everything seems to be good, linkages etc in good condition. Going to try give it a run on satday, and probs buy a rebuild kit for it soon. However it has a water choke, going to see if i can change my current one onto the 32/36

            • yep, flog off that water choke, a manual or electric should be much easier.

They should interchange without too much hassle.

              • Hey guys, im chasing new tyres with low profile. I found out that there is 185/50/14
Would that be too small? Has anyone ran that in a 8" rim before on a mk1, as i think it will be VERY low to the ground ..

Anyone at all have some info.. or even on where to get them from? Very scarce tyres they are

                      • So finally put the 90amp alternator on. The pulley was made from 2 different pulleys ahaha, its a bit wobbly but it will do
The wires tripped me out, as there was 2 red ones, and 2 blue ones, one solid blue and the other blue/white. Dado and Dan said they were only fimiliar with 1 blue. However i just traced it back and put it where it was originally.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh how good it feels to drive with subs, HIDs, indicators, break light, and even wipers on at the same time. HAAHHAHAHA before i was lucky to put my headlights on, and possibly indicate.

                          Joys of Golfs LOL,
Id have radio on, (i has no subs or anything like that) headlights on, soon as i would indicated the Radio would shut off, the indicator would blink and the headlights would go off, then headlights on then off LOL

Good work on getting it done though. Still would have been less hassle to go a serp belt setup!!

                          • What size battery are you guys running??? Even with a dodgy alternator as long as the battery is charging (which happens when you drive in daylight) it covers the extra load at night until it's flat.

                              • Well its been ages since ive post anything in here. I hope you guys dont think im slack (i am) ahaha

Well in the past week, i've found the motivation to redo my wiring, and fix all electrical problems i've had. Fixed my heater, lights and a few other problems. Just replacing all old wires etc.
I've also got a few goodies ordered, just waiting on arrival hehehe

Lastly, i've spent a good few hours polishing the rims up ahaha, what are people opinions? Its not finished, just a rough sand and polish. Im still not sure what to do with the centre face for colour. Anyway, here it is !
