After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.
Job came through then ol mate? You gonna commute via plane for now?
I have to organise my custom DPF core Gav, but as soon as that is here and I weld it all up, she's all yours.
I can get cores made in different % flow, so am going to try a 50% and see how the DPF delete tune goes with it in place. Will still soot a little, but should be half as much as a delete car, and with all my extra breathing mods, should be less again, especially on water meth. I'd like to be able to offer a high flow DPF pipe that suits your "delete" tune, and hopefully it's something we can get clean enough to pass transport / public acceptance. That's the goal anyway....
Should flow OK, as the plan is 3" DPF out, 3" mid pipe and 2.5" axle back, all straight through. I want a funnel out of the bottom of the DPF, the stock pipe is just horrible, and crazy given the space there is!
The great news is these cores never clog, so there's no need for active regens, passive is plenty.
love your work mate, you should have plenty business in years to come when all the DPF cars start dying and needing new ones....
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

pretty loud, my mk3 was similar when I had a pod on it but i ditched it because all my testing showed I got more power and better spool with the stock air filter.
anyway, good to see dome devlopment work going on
I'd love to see back to back dyno tests with the pod induction kit and the stock airbox

Mate in a perfect world I'd put down my sidchrome tools, take my car off my personal hoist, and back it onto my dyno, to test each mod along the way. All I have is the bumometer, a little theory, and a desire to drill holes in stuff.
I do agree the way it is is overkill, and would liberate no extra power at all on a stock ECU etc. It's just noise at this stage, and a bit too much to be honest. Doing it all over again I'd stick with the stock box and get the aFe lid, but where's the fun in a few typical bolt on mods??
I've no doubt at keast half the things were a waste of time really, but I had fun doing it, and I've no doubt I've built a low restriction inlet!
The good news is I ordered my experimental DPF core today, and once it arrives will fab up my high flow DPF dump, tack it up myself then drop it to the local engineer for proper welding, get it ceramic coated, and then let Gav has his way with her.
Heck, I might even buy some real Methanol next week, that will be a definate for a before and after dyno, before the Gav factor.
And with Gav starting work in Brissie in a few weeks, we should see the TDI finally tuned up in the next few months!!!

Man I totally agree - I just mean that if/when you do get it on a dyno, it'd be great to see a back to back comparison (tuned or not, i'd still be interested to see what difference there was).

Not gonna happen mate, I have filled the room where the stock box was, far too much trouble for what we all know, an element does nothing and a decent cold air very little by itself, especially on the well flowing MkV from stock.

I need to do the cooler on my car, still haven't been able to work out the best option for it. On the plus side I just got back from UK, Paris and Hong Kong to find my package of goods arrived back the day before I did
So I need to fit it all up and have a chat to Gav

Hahaha, no rush on it, I still need to fit all the parts up to do it and I won't have the money to do that for a little bit. but I want to have it ready before the start of the National Time Attack series as the cage is hopefully going in before then which has all been paid for its just a matter of getting it in.
