Will be a valuable resource for current and future generations, who knew those things even could break.
Apparently they break reasonably often. A poll of Scirocco owners had a decent number with broken handles. One car had both handles broken in the lot (or someone had pinched them on a test drive). So it’s not an uncommon fault.

Well I'll be damned, clearly why VW are hesitant to provide suitable warranty on this vital piece of construction.
Have you considered the market opportunity for you to create your own from perhaps carbon fibre, or niobium or vanadium treated steel? Custom colours and finishes? Trigger signature Titanium edition?

I most likely would screw this up (pun intended) but this is a great guide. Sounds like you should locate some spares.. maybe 'test' drive a few Rocs when you get the chance.

Yeah no screws in this. It’s just got one of those lock in clips. Not sure how easy they are to get off without breaking them so I’d almost say you’d bust it getting it off so would be up for a new one anyway.

So you need to break in to spare parts to avoid a cost.
How crucial is picking it up at lunch to the whole process?
