  • Was that cruise an organised thing or just a few mates.

I've been out of the ADL car scene for a while now, just looking to step back in

    • It was just something that happened at late notice. Yianni does quite a lot of filming at car events around Adelaide and he was looking to try something a little different so I volunteered my car.

        • They're just the stock R calipers painted red

I used the brush on caliper paint from Foliatec. It's a 2 pack paint which dries with a hard gloss finish. It's good stuff

Just search online. I bought it off another forum member. I think he originally got it from the UK.

Did you paint them yourself and then add a sticker/badge?

Yes that’s exactly what I did. I also put a coat of UHT high temp clear over the top, however I’ve since had to try and remove this as it doesn’t harden properly and ends up as a dust magnet and then can’t be cleaned.

Ended up taking the clear off with isopropyl alcohol. Took a lot of work to remove so I wouldn’t recommend using VHT clear.

                    • I'm looking at a new DSG shifter knob from Black Forest Industries. They have some pretty cool red ones that would match your red calipers.

I'm thinking about getting the orange/black one and painting my calipers orange to match.

nice build by the way, I use to love the older sciroccos back in the day, they haven't lost their appeal with the new version. I use to have a golf gti back in the uk. went with the passat this time as 2 kids need more room!

im just tossing up whether to pay $150 per caliber to get someone to paint mine, or do what you did and paint them myself and add teh sticker. I can justify a new break kit as its a daily drive and the standard brakes are adequate. only other thing is I don't have anything to jack the car on. hmmmmmm think I solve this one after the mods are done.

By the time you buy a set of jack stands (I’d actually recommend using 4 and do all 4 corners at the same time) and buy paint and degreaser, you’ll probably be not far off the price for getting them done.

The main benefit then will be you have some jack stands for later...

Thanks. Haven't done much to it lately so not a whole lot to report.

Had it's 2 year service done and first set of tyres changed at 35,000km.

Also had the steering wheel control module replaced under warranty as I had intermittent (every months or so) cruise control not activating. Seems to have fixed the issue.

Had the car detuned to run on 95 (Vortex 98 ) as I have a Caltex fuel card for work and the octane rating of Caltex fuels is lower than most of the other suppliers by quite a bit.

Had the car run on the dyno at the SA dyno day and still made over 200kwaw so I'm happy.
