And finally after some swearing and wrestling, its in.

Heaps left to connect and a modified shift linkage to make, but ITS IN!

    • Well done.

      just for interests sake.

What's it take to fit one of these in? In physical terms, ie engine mounts etc

You need an early 1.8T block from a Passat or Audi A4 for a Mk1, as it has the boltholes for the Mk1 Engine Mt. Use a Diesel or GTI Mount.

You can use the later motors in a Mk2 or 3 as they use different brackets.

All piping is a challenge and is unique to each car.

            • OK, so whilst the engine is nearly in and the interior is out for the pedal box and other mods, I took the opportunity to sort out the seats. The original ones were baked and faded.

I recently imported a set of Corrado seats for the car. Fronts fit and are glorious, rear is not even close, but I couldnt sleep if the front and rear seats dont match, so I`m gonna use the Corrado Skins and the Rocco bases and hopefully keep the centre armrest.

Here is what I did today.

Pulled the fabric off both sets of seats

Rocco frame with foam and cloth from the Corrado

Gonna need to add a bit of fabric here for this seam

So I steal some from the doortrims. This was hard yakka, that glue is strong.

The base of the rocco seat with the corrado cloth, gonna need to add some fabric here and get the armrest to fit in the middle.

Fortunately the Mrs is a seamstress and we have an industrial sewing machine. Some more measuring and sewing tomorrow hopefully.

                • Good stuff, bit OT but how much and how long did it cost and take for you to get the interior parts here ?
I really want some Recaros for mine.

                    • I Paid 100quid for the seats and doorcards, including the bloke to deliver em to the shippers in the UK, then they were backloaded with engines and stuff, so they probably owe me $300 or so worth of shipping and duty.

I can hook you up with shipping if you can get em delivered to a UK address (East Sussex). Takes 10 weeks.

The front seats are perfect and the bolsters are awesome.

The rear seat of both cars are a similar size, but different shapes. I reckon with the retrimming of the corrado fabric, I can end up with something that looks factory and is a factory fit into the rocco, but incorporates the headrests and bolster features of the corrado.

The Scirocco only has 4 seatbelts, its a sports coupe. I only have 2 children, so the bolster stays I`m not ready for pics quite yet, soon when it looks more complete...

Thanks Marty, I want it really as a weekend cruiser and sleeper. It`ll have stock exterior and stock looking interior and go like stink.

I`d come racing and beat a few Mk4s though

                              • Did some more sewing today, or I hindered and the Mrs ignored my plan and started cutting and sewing.

Basically we are putting in a panel at each end of the seats to make em fit the wider scirocco bench seat. I cut up the rocco rear padding to give shape to the sides and cut a chunk out of the foam in the base of the seat to allow for the arm rest.

Here is a mock up of how it will look.

Plenty of seams to finish and tidying to do, then onto the frame it goes.

Hopefully this will motivate me to finish the rest of the car.
