Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My Scirocco Project

I had a Scirocco Storm in the UK which I loved and I have always bemoaned the fact that I did not import it to Oz.

When I had the opportunity to buy a 1986 Mk2 Sciroccoo Private import, I jumped at it, even though it was only a GT (1.8carby) and without the leather as in the Storm.

It came to me with Jap wheels on it, which I finally got round to removing today.

I had these in the shed, which I reckon look alright, but they are a bit small.
It needs slamming on its arse, or bigger wheels. Or both

    What do you guys reckon?

Next steps are leather interior and probably a 16v engine.

Oh yeah and removal of those front foglights and maybe some rego.

Nice one Loon - I think yours is the shade darker than mine. If you are going to start pulling things off her pm me, I may be interested - I love mine just the way VW intended!

I would love some 15" BBS mags, but they are too much for me.
More important mods are the engine and paintjob and obviously leather interior. Its not a sports coupe without leather I think.

Lets see some pics of your one Tulyar.

All this talk of scuttling is making me nervous dingo, but I`ve had a good look and there is nothing major.

Nice to see you still here carpoid. Hadnt thought of red lights, they might attract police attention though. I could do em white like a scala! YUK

I want clear front indicators though.

Yeah, Ive kinda lost interest in the Mk1. The Scirocco is so cool and rare.
                        and more complete.

True. And I can see myself swanning round in it.

The Mk1 is Oak Green and very shiny though. Its a personal challenge to finish it, but what will I then do with it???

Weld up the rear doors and paint it again
