So just to confirm, does this sync up to the steering controls of mk 6 golf? Got a 10' GTI mk 6 that doesn't have the bluetooth so this seems cheapest way to get that installed over getting a newer RNS.

yes, works fine with the steering wheel controls of a mk6
Hi All,
If anyone interested, purchase & installed a RCD330+ Desay unit on 2011 Passat. ($145 delivered DHL-6 days delivered)
Climatronic not showing in screen
Full Ops is active(front, rear and side)
Use same connection as Rcd510
Steering button works except (rhs) which still active and working with originally fitted bluetooth.
LHS button for volume, answer calls and mute is working ok.
*Coding required for backup camera
*There is a error on CAN getway due to incorrect coding on RCD330, (but this is not affecting any functionality)
*still error on original bluetooth as disconnected audio cables from back of the unit. (possibly need power disconnected and removed from can Getway)
*required 2 to 1 antenna cable as no AM reception
*show caller number in dash display
***Mirrorlink works ok with Android phone, if you search the internet, there is a way to mirror the phone to use any application through Mirrorlink. (tomtom, google navigation, google car play, all works ok except some time screen flashes for few times.
Please share any coding and tricks if you aware to make it 100% integration

Reason: Additional information
Hi all - new forum member here! I just installed one of these head units in my MY08 MkV GTI, based on feedback from everyone in this thread. I bought from this link:
Shipping took less than a week, which was a pleasant surprise. It seems to work just as it should, and shuts off with the key, which suggests I don't have any CANBUS problems - my CANBUS gateway's part number is 1K0907951, FWIW (I think this is the part that came in all MY08 Golfs with the full-height red MFD). I would have been happy to spend $300 just to add an AUX input, so for the functionality this thing offers, it might be one of the best tech purchases I've ever made.
I've got no experience with car audio installations, but with a set of trim removal tools, I think this took about 20 minutes all up to install. It looks like it was made for the car, and I think the sound quality might be better than with the RCD500 it replaces (it sounds like the mids are a bit stronger, but that might be subjective).
Thanks to everyone on this forum for the tips and links! Here's the final install:
I'm now thinking about replacing the RCD310 in my Mk6 Comfortline with an RCD330 but have only just discovered this unit so am curious. What is its origin? Are they made for Chinese VWs?
If it's plug and play and supports CarPlay then it almost seems too good to be true given the price. The stock look of the unit is a bonus too.
I think they're made for Chinese and Malaysian Polos, Ventos and Beetles - I'd guess that they're just removed from new cars by VW dealers if buyers want to upgrade, and then resold to us, which would explain why they're so cheap. If you've got a Mk6, it should work with your steering wheel controls, too.
I'm just going to put this out there for anyone who stumbles onto this thread.
If you're excited about having mirrorlink in your car, dont... There are so many issues with it and there are only a handful of apps that are supported by it. Makes me sad
Yep, plugged in my Samsung S5, nothing, battled for a day, ended up loading the LG Carplay app, opens and flikkers for a minute, then I get the Samsung screen, because there are nou "back" button you can only open apps, not close them, unless you load another app on your phone "Button Saviour" anf then, when you unplug the phone just hangs. Useless gadget, but the radio overall isnt that bad

Not at all, ask away. I didn't install one of those no. MK5 use quadlock connectors so no need to convert ISO to quadlock. Also my Can-bus module is recent enough not to have battery drain issues or any of those problems. I believe that's what that unit is for
I installed my aftermarket RVC and digital delay timer yesterday and had it coded. Once coded i had to reboot the headunit and it's now working perfectly. the video quality is surprisingly good for a $30 camera. It just needs a little adjustment (currently pointing to low).
Do you mind linking which aftermarket RVC you picked up? I've also got an MY08 Jetta.
I had previously ordered what i thought was a Jetta compatible camera for an Android HU i was going to install (whole other story ending in disappointment). However im pretty sure i got the wrong one as its far larger than oem boot latch leading me to think its a passat one or somthing.
Ive decided to pick myself up a non CarPlay one (RCD330G 6RD 035 187A) as i dont have an iPhone and my LG G4 is a certified MirrorLink compatible device. Luckily MirrorLink comes on the cheaper versions as standard
Also thought I'd ask if you ever went any further in your "ribbon cable back into the dash under the unit " endeavours . Part of my failed Android HU install was fitting Factory USB & AUX plugs in above the shifter with non oem ends ie a standard male usb and a pair of L/R male RCA's So i was thinking it'd be nice of i could retain their functionality to prevent cables all across the dash
Been doing some further digging ( inc. lots of google translated russian pages ) and I've found some technical info and that there's a way to add a non front facing USB port to these units as well as a 'rear unit' aux port as well. Not for the faint hearted tho as it involves disassembling your unit and soldering new USB/AUX cables to the back of the PCB. Also this doesn't double the number of ports you can use, as its merely a piggy back off the front facing ports ie DONT PLUG IN TWO DEVICES AT ONCE as you risk borking up your headunit as well as whatever's plugged in.
