Yea sorry i should have been more specific. You can't view the written text but you can get Siri to read them to you and reply via dictation. Seems to work reasonably well.

There are 2 versions of the rcd 330 plus at the moment, "noname" and "desay"

noname: more expensive, latest firmware is capable of apple carplay, linux OS
desy: cheaper, windows CE OS

both are awesome units

There is also a rcd 330 g which has a smaller screen... among other things that I don't really remember. But for the price, you may as well go for the rcd 330 plus

Not at all, ask away. I didn't install one of those no. MK5 use quadlock connectors so no need to convert ISO to quadlock. Also my Can-bus module is recent enough not to have battery drain issues or any of those problems. I believe that's what that unit is for

I installed my aftermarket RVC and digital delay timer yesterday and had it coded. Once coded i had to reboot the headunit and it's now working perfectly. the video quality is surprisingly good for a $30 camera. It just needs a little adjustment (currently pointing to low).

How did you know your Canbus module was not effected? Just from trial and error, or are there some documented versions? I have not found a reliable source of information on this subject.

From what I've been reading if you have the CAN BUS gateway ending in Q you should be able to get away without having to get a CAN module adapter.

I have a 1K0 907 530 L module. I believe as long as the letter is K or later it should be ok.

So i bought the same one Water_jetta did today and now I'm playing the waiting game..

I bought a Golf PC back in 2010 but could never find any one who knew how to instal it. it has the same fittings as the standard head unit but also a lot of other connections see the attached spec sheet. they had videos on how to fitt it but I'm not confident playing around with the electronics. I'm not sure if its worth fitting now or selling it. has any one ever fitted one of these and is it to do?

Bit of an update on the head unit install. I installed Noname brand RCD330+ (6RD035187 B) on Saturday. It replaced the stock RCD300, it was completely plug and play. I have a 1K0907530 L Canbus module, so far there hasn't been any battery drain issue. Unfortunately my reversing camera didn't arrive on time, I've run the cabling to the boot and will hopefully get to install the camera next weekend.

This unit has the most recent firmware and appears to work well. I haven't noticed any bugs so far. Carplay works well, the only issue I have is you have to drape a USB cord down your centre console. I'm considering a right angle USB plug and ribbon cable back into the dash under the unit and out near the ashtray but it might be too much work.
