Radio muting if you start the car after the unit boots is a known issue pending an MCU update to fix it.
Firmware is the the same as the one I have asked about before. See above pic.

As for the radio muting, I know it's a known issue but I have never had it mute after it is working then put it into reverse and then it's muted after putting it back into drive!
As every other time it's happened it's been on startup.

    • I will need to organise a replacement too once Sandy gets the final production units in. My SD is just not useable as the load times are like 30 - 40 secs every time you change a track and the BT audio quality the terrible like with the other guys units. Has anyone else had an issue with the BT during phone calls? Ive had quite a few people tell me thry can barely hear me unless I lean right into the radio which isn't that great while driving.

Having said that they are my only issues with the unit and I've been quite pleased with it hardware wise.

On the software front Sandy, can you please get something done about the screen brightness. I get no change whatsoever when headlights go on/off and the minimum setting with the reverse camera on is quite blinding at night making reversing up my long driveway quite difficult.

      Thanks mate.

Monday (10/02/2014) is typically when most chinese companies will be back at work (Pretty sure Sandy said AS will be back then too), but, I wouldn't expect a new firmware or anything for a bit after that anyways.

Consider what it's like when we get back to work from the Christmas/New Years break every year, the last few weeks in december and the first few weeks in january are basically useless (they're the least productive months of the year). But that is the west, so China is probably different....

They don't seem to have issues in hot temperatures but again this is just the first batch... the production units have no issues with temperature and does not have the white screen issue.

monsun.exe error seems to be software related when I last spoke to the tech they are working on a fix.

Is long load times while changing tracks only when you're using GPS?

And are you saying your unit still blinds you if it's on the lowest brightness setting? That seems strange as I thought the lowest setting is not very bright at all

I will be pushing AS to make sure their damned techs don't get any new year slack.

              • I'd have to agree with goobz on the brightness setting. I drive at night with the unit on the lowest setting. And most of the time switch the screen off as its blinding. Especially if u driving on roads without many lights/traffic. Maybe there needs to be a super dim setting for those of us who want it dimmer for night time.

                • Funny, because I find even the brightest setting during the day is pretty weak, especially if you're wearing sunglasses (as you kinda have to do when youre driving in the middle of the day in rural aus), it can be pretty hard to see....

No issues at night, lowest brightness is fine.

                  • Well daytime is bearable. Probably all the way up already. But I'm sure a lower setting is doable.

What are your dash lights set on. I have mine turned all the way down, that could be why it blinds me.

                    • I find the Lowest setting a bit bright at night too. Also the brightness setting doesn't seem to save as every now and then I have to set it back to lowest setting from high.

No its like that if its the only thing running too.

During the day it doesn't bother me at all. Even on the brightest setting. At night the GUI itself isn't too bad although at times I find myself wishing it was a little dimmer. For me it's mainly when the reverse camera comes on. Its like the screen switches to max brightness and makes even seeing out of my side mirrors difficult when reversing cause there's this glowing beacon in the middle of the dash where everything else is dark.

Also there is no switching at all when you switch the headlights on/off. Shouldn't this happen? I would have thought so. Ideally I would like it to be on the 1st - 2nd brightest setting during the day(lights off) and then a bit dimmer than the current dimmest setting at night (lights on). This way it would switch automatically with the auto lights.

Would something like this be feasable or totally out of the question?

                        Thanks Sandy

                        • If there was a lower brightness I might get back on board. I drive on the Bruce Hwy every day & have my dash on lowest. My current Chinese rubbish glows like a nuke on min, so I turn it off. I don't want to have to do that with a head unit.

                          • Does anyone have any idea if I've wired the front wiring for the reverse cam correctly? Does it need to be grounded here? I had help so I believe it was done right at the rear, but I can get a pic of that to, if need be.

So far it never really shows theres a camera installed, it just shows the sensor display. But a handful of times the grid showing the reverse alley thing has come up since installing...

The brown head unit connector leads to the brown black and orange wires, as well as the yellow connector. The red power wire from the camera is connected to the positive power wire from the head unit.

                            Thanks

                            • Again, i've never had any issues with the backlight being too bright at night. Screen dimming works fine. If anything i'd love it to be brighter (as i've said before, in the middle of the day, in aussie sun, it can be hard to read).

Which RVC? Have a look at the tips and tricks section (I think its called) of my spreadsheet. It has wiring guides for both the license plate version and the flip down badge version.

                              • Update guys, I will be receiving the latest firmware update in a couple of days. They are currently doing testing on the latest revision, and they claim that they have fixed my major concerns (being radio losing sound when car starts after the unit starts, SD / navigation memory conflict issues etc). Fingers crossed if that's true I can finally organise for delivery - will be revealed in the coming days.
