  • Well, we have all been patient for a group buy that has been open for 6 months... I am hoping Sandy comes back with something on this. I am with you Bollo, definitely a show stopper for me as well.

Sorry about the late response mate it's getting harder to keep track of the thread with work and wedding planning in the mix. If you do have an urgent question it would be better to reach me via email.

As for the mirroring module, there is a specific interface for it. If you go to the main menu on your DNS unit, you can scroll down by dragging the screen up, and there's a button for mirrorlink. You enter this menu by pressing that button. It doesn't have anything to do with Allcast, you simply have to select the menu on the unit.

      • Sandy, thank you for the help on the mirror link. Heck, I didn't even know the menu scrolled down there. Most of the menus that have additional pages, have arrows on the right side. Went to the mirror link option, and it works. Graphics aren't the greatest, but that could have been my app that was running. Wish I didn't have to leave the phone display on during the mirror link, but that may be the actual technology and not the radio. Much happier now. Thx

Some who received the pre-production unit have come across a white screen error. Others come across monsun.exe error while playing SD. It is unclear if the two are related at the moment, but the white-screen error has been tracked to a faulty resistor which will be replaced in the final production unit. Those with the pre-production unit experiencing issues will be able to exchange for a final production unit on release. International customers will need to send the unit back to Audiosources and local Australian customers will send it back to me.

monsun.exe error is under investigation and should either be related to the resistor fault or software memory leak. In the latter scenario a firmware update would fix the issue. However the technicians have not been able to replicate this yet, so anyone who is able to replicate it please let me know and describe in as much detail as possible how the issue occurs, including if GPS is running in the background, if route guidance is on (i.e. during a trip), and what song / file type is being played, how big the file is, how long the unit has been on for etc.

Looks like I need to keep an eye on the first post in this thread.
I did not know if you had suffered with the white screen and monsun errors you could send the unit back and get a final production unit.
So Sandy if I send my unit back how long would it take you to send out the final production unit after receiving it?

Both of these I believe show what I mean by the dimmest setting being too bright. Plus the camera being full brightness too.

Just catching up on things and noticed this post. It seems such a trivial thing but it makes a big difference for me too. Towards the end of having mine in I was turning the face off at night because it was so bright, compounded by the size of it! Makes night time driving very distracting hey. If they were to add a couple extra settings it would be good to see it dimmer for night and a bit brighter than max for daytime as it was a bit hard to see it at times in sunlight (maybe because of the abundance of black colours?).

I uploaded a pic of my stock unit and you can see the dimness is uniform with the gauge cluster which I keep just slightly above the lowest setting, photoshopped a pic below it of how the DNS seemed at night, though I think it was brighter than what I made it lol http://i59.tinypic.com/afh346.jpg

              • I'll get them to make the dimmest setting a bit dimmer. Not sure if it can be brighter - as is the case for LCD screens I'd expect brightest to be exactly that - max brightness the screen can achieve.

I spoke to the software engineer about the RVC brightness and apparently the manager asked him to turn up the brightness for it a couple of firmware updates ago, because he thought it was too low! But anyway. I'll revert back to him.

As for updates, I just received a new MPU update that has several interface and speed improvements. I haven't had the time to test it myself but it is up on the first post. They have not implemented the music library function yet because they hit a snag scanning ID3 info into the library - apparently something is causing the unit to freeze during the scanning process. They should have a solution soon.

As for SD / nav issue they are waiting for a response from the CPU manufacturer. It appears the CPU kernel needs enhancement because as it is it's not taking advantage of the dual core for multitasking. In the meantime I am discussing with the software engineer regarding if there is a way to restrict system resources used by the navigation software for now.

The clash / slowdown issue only happens when the 3D map is moving. When the map is moving and in the foreground, the foreground app naturally takes precedence and there is not enough CPU juice left (in one core, as the other core is not being utilised atm) to run the SD decoding in the background smoothly.

                • Sandy, the latest firmware you uploaded is in Chinese, how do I get it back to English?

Edit: Nevermind, fixed it lol, guess work.

SD Card still pauses on reverse

Loads quicker than the December firmware, but not really that many changes otherwise, tbh.

                    • So this is happening on startup using the new firmware.., takes a few reboots for it to properly boot (and when it does it's in Chinese).

Will have to reflash and see if that fixes it. It took ages to flash the first time (like 30mins), restarted the flash, figure that may be why it's being funny.

                      • Hmmm... might have to hold off this one for now. Except for the few known faults mines working well at the moment and I don't want to break it!

                        Comment

                        • So reflashing fixed the white screen, but now every time I boot up it's in chinese, no matter how many times I change the language back to english.

                          This is what happens.

Boot up, everything is in chinese, go to change language and english is still selected. Only way to get it back to english is to change to a different language, then change back to English, and everything goes back to normal.

                          Funky bug going on :|

                          • Just got back after a month away overseas and catching up on this thread. Not sure if I should be updating my firmware yet but for those who have, are you still getting the dreaded monsun error?

Wait until we confirm if the language bug is my unit being weird or what, first, tbh. Otherwise the December one ( 20131228 ) was the most stable for me.
