Email Notifications Failing (mostly Telstra)
Hello everyone. Seems there is an issue with Telstra (possible others) blocking email from our server. If you are trying to sign up I would suggest a different email if possible. If you're trying to reset your password and it fails please use the Contact Us page:
They're still working on the finalised version which is supposed to be a big update. I have received an interim update from them but for some reason the interface has a glitch where buttons become transparent - I'll need to get more files from the tech on Monday.
In the meantime I managed to get a specifically compiled MCU that should fix the issue some have had with hardware keys not responding. This version of MCU should only be applied to DNS-810 units, it is not compatible with the 610. Let me know if it fixes the issue - I think only two have it so far.
Alright Sandy, I ran the update. My hardware buttons are working again, but I lost sound from the rear speakers.

I'm going to guess it's the same oversight as a previous MCU which caused no sound to come from the rear speakers. Would be an easy enough fix, but if you don't mind can you try flashing to the previous MCU to see if you will still end up with no hardware buttons? We would know if it's something to do with the MCU flashing process or the MCU version itself that way.
In any case I have uploaded the interrim update I received (which is not the final one that should be coming this week), please see updated first post.
Since the interrim update includes the test MCU here, the MCU part of the update is ONLY for the DNS-810 and appears to cause no sound to come from rear speakers. Feel free to flash only the BSP and MPU if you don't want this to happen. Those who don't mind - can you please confirm if the MCU update fixes the radio muting issue?
The SD side of things seem much improved. Loading speed is faster and I have not come across any errors or stuttering while navigation is running. However, when route navigation is active it still takes a long time to skip songs. As soon as you minimise navigation by pressing the NAV button (bringing SD interface to the front) the unit will promptly move on to the next song. I still need to see how much better this issue is in the coming update.
Those who have the SD volume reduce when navigation is opened, go into iGo settings and set master volume to maximum. Because in the new DNS system the navigation and SD are both handled by the ARM CPU (as opposed to having distinct hardware modules in the ANS), iGo's volume controls will affect SD volume. You are still able to mute navigation volume separately by holding down the hardware NAV button.
Cheers Sandy, will flash tomorrow. So it should work fine just flashing mpu and bsp, and keeping the December mcu?
Also, just to confirm, are you saying that when you have sd and nav running, switching to sd interface will cause the song to skip for no apparent reason? Or just that if you try and skip while in nav, it's slow, and changing to sd will cause it to respond?

Sandy. Does AS have a list of what was updated in there most recent BSP and MPU? Just wondering what to expect for their "significant" firmware update?
DNS series head unit (new generation dual core RNS-510 alternative)
Sandy this is what I have from latest bsp and mpu. I did not update the mcu as you said. Is this right?
So far I have lost the "loudness" as I turn on and off and no difference. If I change the bass or treble you have to turn volume up or down once for that new setting to take affect. Same for eq presets.
An issue I was having previously with volume and preset station change response time while maps are displayed just got worse. Previous I would get random "slow down" on all functions while viewing iGo. Specifically volume both on the DNS and steering wheel, preset radio station change on steering wheel and the backup camera would have up to a 7 second delay in working....bit only randomly. Now right off the get go, delay up to 7 seconds or so on anything while in iGo. Frustrating sandy.
Other than that I believe the mcu is more of the user interface part of the firmware so not expecting any graphical changes.

The EQ issues could be related to the MCU not updating with the rest of the software. In short BSP contains the WinCE image, MCU contains drivers and MPU contains the software elements. Updating BSP and MPU means you updated the WinCE OS and software but have not updated drivers - which is usually not a problem unless the latest MPU update relies on an updated driver.
With the latest updates I do not experience slow downs in navigation for any SD controls except skipping songs. However the faster speed for SD could be attributed to driver updates. I noticed that the interface in general is actually a bit slower now that AS has switched to 32bit, so perhaps without the driver update the SD speed with navigation running will also be slower. You can give the update a go to confirm.

As far as I'm aware the big update is supposed to fix the slowdown issue and radio muting issue, as well as adding music library functions to SD / USB.
Hrm fair enough. Since I've got my big road trip on Saturday, I may just wait until the big update is out before flashing, the December firmware (asides from slow sd) is stable enough as is, don't really need to be playing with partial flashes etc heh.

DNS worked great on the road trip back, but the SD playback pausing on reverse is annoying as ****, and I had the issues where when you had the Nav up, and were playing a track on SD, when the track finished it wouldn't go to the next track until you switched to SD.

Wow, major fail on the new update, so many issues, previously i was running on the December software and that was relatively bug free.
This morning I flashed the new software onto the HU, after the flash the screen was all funky looking(oversized[zoomed maybe?], and non responsive, so i re-flashed the update, then all seemed ok, till i started using BT, and it started playing around on me, switching the call to handset mode, etc. then after that, every time I got in the car i had to re-start the car 2 or 3 times till the unit started working(was getting white screens)
So I'm now going to go back to the old software, and hopefully back to some stability.

Hoping someone knows what to do. I'm sitting in the car for a few minutes now. Seems the update has started. But its gotten to a point where it says read xip.bin fail. And now it doesn't want to move on. Anyone??

Next Thursday is the ETA for the big update. They're talking about an update from the CPU vendor which would completely eliminate any issues with slow SD response but I'm not sure if it's coming together with the Thursday update. I'll have to remind them again about the SD pausing on reverse, but hopefully the Thursday update will have everything else fixed plus music library function added.

I have never had that happen before - try reformatting the SD card and putting the full December update on it. Sounds like an issue with slightly corrupted file on the SD.
