People probably busy as well. Mine is working fine. The new canbus/old unit firmware is a bit buggy in some places, but otherwise working like normal.

Still waiting for an upload of the new Sygic maps, though.

    • How did the chip swap go? Still haven't gotten around to mine yet. Was it much work to do?

Relatively straight forward, but a bit fiddly. Have a look back a few pages and you'll see a bit of back and forth about it. Desoldering and prying the board up was the most difficult, just had to heat it up and free the pins from the solder. Wick+solder sucker definitely helped.

Just waiting on a proper firmware update as well, the one that gave us compatibility was just quickly thrown together, it seems, missing functionality etc. Works fine otherwise, just as it did with the old chip, just nothing new, that's all. It boots a lot quicker, though, so that's nice.

        • went away for a week and returned to find the battery completely dead in the Golf. Battery was only 6mths old, and had no issues previously. I suspect it was caused by the new DNS810. Car was in garage, no key in ignition, and doors unlocked.
Anyone else found a current drain?

          • Having the doors open could have caused ur drain. I left mine for 10 days in January and no battery drain at all. But mine is a mk5 and they were the ones with the canbus issue and battery drain issue.
            Mine: -MK5 Golf 2.0TDI[Deiselgeek sigma 6 shifter + H&R 50mm lowering springs + GTI Tartan interior + Audi 18x8 A6 wheels(Dark Steel)]

Doors locked or unlocked? Because that would be your problem. With the doors unlocked the DNS is pulling current for quick boot (most other units would too). When you lock the doors they go into sleep mode. Pretty sure that's the case anyways. Haven't had any issues with mine.

              • Yep. Mine is a Mk5. So is there still an issue with that model?

                • I have a 2007 EOS Diesel which is based on the MK V Golf and I also had a flat battery after a few days however the car was in my garage and it is rarely locked. I replaced the battery and noticed after 3 days the motor was a little slower at starting. I will try locking it next time I leave it for a few days and see if that makes a difference.

I do have an issue in that the DNS will not keep more than 1 phone profile.

Everything else seems to work very well. I have fitted an antiglare screen for an iPad onto it which helps when the roof is down. It is considerably better than the orignal MFD2.

                  • What's with the unlocked doors? That is just a bizarre concept to me.

That's the reason you're seeing excessive battery draw anyways. I'm fairly sure the RNS does it too, but when you have the doors unlocked, the car is supplying electricity to various components, so that when you hop in and start the car everything turns on very fast.

Lock doors = everything goes into sleep mode = low battery draw.

I have had no issues with mine, even last year when I was away for a few weeks over christmas, came back and car started straight away (new battery though).

                    • Anyone received the new wireless Android mirroring module and gotten it to work? My phone (Nexus 6) doesn't see anything to connect to.

I sent AS an email late last week asking if there had been any new firmwares. It's Chinese New Year, so don't expect to get a response for another week or so, though.

Ah forgot about that. Fair enough. Well hopefully something comes through soon although I haven't gotten around to swapping the can chip over yet so I cant complain to much yet. Lol!

                            • Hello from Russia and sorry for my English.

I have DNS-830 for Skoda Superb. I tried to update firmware from this post (my firmware was DNS810), but after first reboot it doesnt work. Just blinking leds. I tried to reboot it by unplugging, formating SD card and copying files again.

How to bring it back to life?

What exact firmware were you using before?
