Get a copy of totalcommander and load it as if it was a nav application.

    • Is PM on this Forum the only way to contact this seller? It seems like a very restricted, unreliable way to do business? I sent a PM a week ago and no answer.

          • Just had my unit installed. The sound is quite dodgy from all sources at the moment. Has anyone mucked around and found a good combination of "ASP" settings?

            • Hi Hope you all had a Merry Christmas.
Very early this year I made enquiries about purchasing this unit. I was informed that it would not fit a VW Crafter dash, so I sadly did not proceed with my order. I instead searched out a unit suitable for the Crafter and had it within a few weeks and fitted the same day. Now almost a year old absolutely no problems with it. I am so sorry I couldn't have joined the people patiently waiting for this unit which never seems to improve.

              • New canbus installed. Hardest part is desolder and removal of old board.

Just unscrew 3 screws (1 on the back, 2 on each side) of bottom plate to access under side of motherboard.

                Desolder old board.
                Clean pins
Solder on new board as shown in pic by Sandy.
                Reassemble.

I had the non A firmware which updated fine.

                Seems all good.

Note . I did have to do soft reset after firmware restart as SD card didn't load.

Mfd works but only has basic info like track number or radio station numbers.

                • Anyone else experiencing low GPS signals with sygic. I think the tolerance is set higher where it wants a stronger signal before it will route. Any tips on where you installed your antenna?

                  • So.. Anyone with a mk5 installed the new unit?? I just received mine and opened it up, it looks deeper(especially the screen) and am a little worried it may protrude from the dash, not too keen on that...

                    • I installed mine.
Yes the screen is deeper but the frame lines up with the trim.
I had trouble getting the main wire to clamp in (thought I was going to break the plug).
Don't really like the chrome trim on it, looks cheap and will probably start to peel.
Bluetooth isn't as good as the dns-610 it replaced but the sound is better and a couple of
features seem to be back that had disappeared with some of the firmware updates.
Just waiting on Sandy to give me an activation code for Sygic so I can try it out.

                      • Sweet, that is all I wanted to know as I'm going away and won't be able to install till the 15th Jan. Wouldn't want it to then not fit.... Haha

Got any tips for desoldering the old board? Having a hell of a time, even with solder wick, i'm certain i've got 99% of the solder out but the board just wont budge :|

Also, the new board is much smaller than the original board, interestingly.

                          • Yeah it was quite tough. I used both wick and a desolder tool which seemed to help more than the wick to grab the solder from the holes. After I got as much solder off all pins I started from one side and slowly pried up each pin one at a time (a side at a time).

I used gentle force to pry up.

This is the type of tool I used as well as the wire.

I'm sure there a better ways as I only have simple soldering experience.

Once the board us off, the new chip fits easily and easy to solder.

Thanks for the quick reply Yea, I used a solder sucker first, and then solder wick to get the remainder. Didn't think to heat each pin individually and gently pry up to get them lose. Used a trim removal tool to get some leverage, and just got one side, the second side shouldn't be too bad. Resoldering is the easy part haha.

Will let ya'll know how it goes.
