Could be just my unit though, dunno. You can always downgrade the firmware anyways :p

Oh yea, and SD/Nav playback is still useless. I thought it was fine the other day when I tested it, but actually using it, when a track finishes, it just sits there doing nothing for 5 minutes until you switch Nav to the background, then it progresses to the next track. May be that i'm playing back FLAC files though?

ok guys flashed to the new firmware and now no gps and I can't set the path the unit does not see the exe file just a bunch of folders.

I am also getting the Bluetooth initialize error as above, iPod is no better, and still no GPS , it just keeps saying set path and it won't let me set the path, anyone else having the set Gps path problem, I played with this for over an hour and still no GPS

Small Update! ... Just drove to the Gym about 3.5mi and when I got there radio just froze no response whatsoever just stuck tried everything, eventually had to pull the fuse under the hood

I'm really considering the eonon unit.

I'd say try flashing to the May firmware (still linked on the first page), I found that much more stable, to be honest.

Re the GPS, dude, its not that hard haha, on the set gps path menu, touch one of the folders and swipe up with your finger, it will scroll down and then you just select the .exe file.

I told you the iPod playback hasn't changed much, supposed to be fixed when they implement music library, but they're trying to make it stable, first.... sooo yea.

Re the radio freeze, did you have RDS enabled? The only time my unit fully locked up and required a fuse pull was when I had RDS. I'm just not gonna touch that again haha.

The Eonon units have cheaper hardware (overall build quality feels much cheaper), software won't look OEM (but at least it works, mostly), and won't have the OEM inputs (ie they have an external canbus unit, and doesnt take oem radio/usb/gps etc, requires adapters). Plus its still a generic chinese unit. Just gotta know what you're getting, especially for 1/3rd of the cost, can't be expecting miracles.

@moda thanks!!!! I have shot small video and posted the link below to show you about my GPS problem, even on the december firmware my unit never saw the exe file. All I did then was push on the folder with the asian writing and hit the check mark and the unit saw it. plus the exe file then had to be named iGo.exe Just wanted you to see ,

As far as the Eonon goes yeah I know it won't have the OEM look and feel of this unit but man this has been a nightmare.,I just want a radio with bluetooth and a half decent iPod UI.
I can get an antenna adapter and my car only had factory aux in because I only had a premium 7. Now the external can bus thats starting to scare me i thought that the eon on was a plug and play unit?
anyway Ill try and flash back to the may firmware, this bluetooth connection thing is very annoying.

Flashed back to the May firmware and everything works again (ie BT and MFD work as normal). Yay.

Take out the SD card, throw it in your PC and confirm where the path of igo.exe actually is. I doubt its an issue with the unit, you just don't know where to find the file haha.

On the Eonon, the external canbus unit is just another box that plugs in the back that decodes CANBUS signal. On the DNS810 that chip is inside. All the generic chinese units have an external box, I haven't seen many that have them internally. Otherwise the Eonon is plug and play, just with random boxes and adapters and wires all hanging out the back :p The build quality on them is pretty meh, though. I have one in my Prado, and its very obviously cheap cheesy chinese plastics and screen.

I ended up getting a unit from this guy that I am really happy with. Have no problems at all with it and nice 8" screen and OEM look. I still had a problem with the GPS Maps, I an Idiot!!! I did eventually figure out how to find the exe file thanks again! I used a stylus and was able to scroll to find it!!!!
BIG NEWS!!!! I don't recall reading this but I formatted an old 320gb external Hd that I had and plugged it into the USBand the radio recognized it, I am in. The Process of copying my whole library(which is huge!!!) to that drive I will keep you guys posted if it works

Probably a generic chinese unit (android or wince), is my guess.

Hopefully the bugs in the June firmware were just software bugs, who knows, haven't heard from Sandy in a while.

Yea, iPod playback is, yea, they were supposed to implement a music library system, but then stopped that to work on the SD/CPU bug. I'm not sure where it is up to. It's fine if you let the iPod/iPhone take control and change via that, and frankly I prefer doing that, it's much easier to find a track on the device than sit there scrolling on the headunit.

Haha, glad you found the GPS file Yea, HDDs should work, I think (I guess?) they have to be FAT32 formatted. Playback/loading might be a bit slow due to the speed of HDDs, though.... and even scrolling through all those files might be a pain :p I'd need an incar NAS to be able to store my entire library, and it would take me years to find anything I wanted to listen to :p

Hi guys just an update @moda so far there has been one incident where the phone book memory was erased. The HDD works fine but since I Have a lot of mp3s it loads a little slow. But the Bluetooth audio still has that distortion in it.
I was so upset when I first got the unit (the iPod,rds freeze, monsoon ect.) the fact that iPod and Bluetooth are just so bad (and that's the deal breaker for me , that's the reason I wanted a new stereo in the first place)
I had opened up a paypal claim, and I found out today that I have won the case. I will most likely be flashing he unit back to the December firmware and putting back the original map Data on the card and sending it back to Lsq star. I am however going to keep a close eye on this thread so if I see that newer firmware fixes some of those issues I may just order another one at a later time, this time directly from audio sources maybe this way there will be more technical support,
I ordered an eonon GM 5153 and it should be arriving in the next few days along with the enfig antenna adapter. I'm going to try this out and hope it won't have as many problems.
