Also I Have some issues I don't recall reading about.

1.When listening to any kind of media if the media volume is to loud you can't hear the GPS, the GPS isn't lowering the vol. when giving directions
2.Bluetooth (audio only!! phone is fine) tin can distortion(sound almost like a blown speaker) and the Vol. on the Bluetooth is not very loud, you can't crack up the vol.
let me know if this is happening to anyone else
    Thank you
GPS sound thing might be fixed by playing with the GPS volume in the units menu (cant remember if its in the main menu or in the hidden menu), it might have been set to default too low.

Otherwise, re the Eonons, they're cheap generic chinese units with a better skin/OS over the top. You have to know what you're getting (ie all the problems surrounding the chinese units, poor radio reception, build quality etc). IMO if you wanted a painless/easy/faultless install, probably best off with an OEM RNS510. Otherwise you'll probably always be fussing with something, or be annoyed by something (ie the chinese units software is hateful to use lol).

    • I have new firmware which I am posting up in the OP.

This firmware fixes an issue some people have been having with the unit getting stuck on the VW screen on boot.

My impression from running this latest firmware is that it is pretty much rock solid - I have not had any boot issues, freezing issues or monsun.exe errors since installing it. So let me know if you have any problems with it. Please remember the new firmware update instructions and ALWAYS FLASH MCU FIRST.

I'm working on Sygic implementation at the moment, I think this is the most sensible approach rather than hoping AS fixes the navigation / SD issue that only occurs with iGo. Other than this nav / SD issue, with the latest firmware there are only two issues that I can see:

      1. the screen brightness sometimes does not pickup that your headlights are on, and stays on the brightest level.
      2. the subwoofer adjustment in EQ appears to do nothing. I am told from a while ago that it does something else funky when you have sub-out connected. I told AS about this but they probably forgot - will chase it up again. This should be just a minor coding error.

If you pick up any other errors please let me know.

Couldn't wait for an answer so I updated and it works with the 610 unlike the last update.
Only issues I found so far is
              EQ:
When you put it on loud it seems to do sweet f all other then putting **** loads of bass into it.
Makes the door trims rattle and it's never done that before!
Also when you adjust the treb, mid or bass it mutes the sound.
When adjusting the balance/fade with cross hair it mutes the sound and is very laggy.
              Radio:
I can't find where to turn on RDS for the radio.

What about the next/prev song while NAV in the foreground? Is it any better? I will try it today.

                  It's bad.
Tried it last night and it is instantly laggy.
Bad to the point where after less then a minute testing I powered down to shut the nav off.

                  • Sd playback on nav is a lot better for me. ~5second lag between changing tracks (FLAC), and very little lag on volume changes.

I have completely lost MFD functionality though. It just shows the default radio station, and won't change when I change stations or input source. I imagine this is because they've changed to the new CANBUS chip, software changes may not like the old chip?

As I said they have not found a solution to changing songs in SD with nav running in the foreground. They're working on it but I'm looking to switch to Sygic, which does not have this issue.

The temporary workaround for now is to keep navigation running in the background (there will still be audio directions). Or, when the song is about to change, minimise navigation (by pressing the nav button) and bring the navigation back to the foreground after the song changes.

No, new CAN-Bus is still being tuned software-wise has not been implemented in the firmware. If you mean the audio menu in the MFD has disappeared, you just need to clear fault codes with VCDS and it should come back next time you start the car. The fault code does come back since it is not an OEM unit but for some reason the code clearing fixes the issue. I'm unsure why that happens occasionally yet, I think it used to happen due to the unit freezing on startup (which is now resolved), about when the car's CAN-Bus starts looking for MFD audio compatibility.

                        Hrm ok, fair enough.

The audio menu still shows up, but it's frozen. It shows '106.9 FM1' (ie my default radio station). Stays like that, regardless of whether I change the station, or input source. Haven't got any fault codes showing up, but probably worth doing a sweep with VCDS and having a gander anyways.

Not really fussed, I don't really use the audio menu, probably a funny software gremlin somewhere, and it'll get fixed when we move to the new canbus chip anyways *shrugs*

In my quick testing of using SD (FLAC files) with iGo Primo, works fine, as I said, still ~5s of lag between changing tracks, which I can deal with lo, but there was minimal lag between adjusting the volume (which was my biggest issue with it before).... so yea.

Either way I don't really use SD much, prefer to just throw on my iPhone and do it that way, so it's never been much of an issue for me (asides from the slowdown in adjusting volume which happened regardless of input source).

                        • Good to hear, I will attempt to update the firmware on my unit this week, My unit shipped with the December firmware. Can Anyone confirm if this firmware fixed the iPod issue, correct ID tags the ability to use playlists and the ability to see all your music on the iPod (some of my music does not show up)

New firmware is so much better than the December one haha.

Various iPod playback bugs aren't really fixed, supposedly they will be once the full ID3 tagging system gets implemented, though. All my music shows up, though, and ID tags are displayed properly, just not when you select music from your iPod, only via the headunit. When selecting music through the iPod, half the time nothing shows up, and half the time it gets the album and artist right but not the track name :p

                              • So, had this interesting error today, no idea what it means:

Playing music via SD (FLAC, ~1hour long single track album ~500mb or so) with Nav ontop. Unit locked up, had to soft reboot it. Before it, SD playback was working fine, pretty quick, and after the crash its now all slow. Ugh.

Edit: oh, and before you ask, I had stopped at my destination when I took those photos, the unit had just frozen :p (inb4 why are you taking photos with 2 hands at 75kmph :p)

Also, bluetooth is completely ****ed. No ****ing idea why, because it worked perfectly in the May software. Grrr.

Phone connected via iPod connection and playing that way (also happens with SD, and with Nav running), connected to BT, phone will ring, unit will pause music and then start playing it again straight away, doesnt show BT screen like it should, then if you answer via the phone (due to the way iphones work) audio is routed to the phone instead of the unit, or if you go to the units BT menu while the phone is ringing, and answer via that, audio is routed to BT on the phone side, but music continues to play on the headunit instead of the phone. Dafuq?

So the only way to get it to work properly is, before you get a call, go into the BT menu, which pauses the music, and then initiate a phone call. Which is retarded.

What used to happen was if you got a call, the unit would pause music, switch to BT screen (would switch to BT screen even if you had Nav running), then when you hung up, it would play music from where it paused, and if you had Nav running, would switch back to that screen.

Hopefully its just a software bug, but it basically makes the BT function useless. Very irritating.

                                /littlebitcranky

iPod playback hasn't really changed much, so its still fairly limited. No playlists, still just composers/artist/album/genre. No ****ing idea why composers is an option, who the hell uses that?
