Yep, it's a CPU bug when decoding music on the SD (and USB?) inputs. Should be getting a fix soon, but Sandy has indicated that it works fine if you use Sygic (it might be less CPU intensive?)

Is even worse if using a TTS voice in iGo (causes my audio to stutter), presumably because of the additional CPU resource required when generating voice instructions.

If not using SD, iGo (Primo 2.4 on my unit) works perfectly and the unit as a whole is very snappy compared to other similar units I have used previously.

In true Canadian fashion... "sorry" if this has been posted. I've scanned through 200+ thread pages just now (skipped some here an there), but I can't find the info.

    Questions:

    1) Does the BT screen display any song info? All I see from old demo vids is that it shows a blue screen with an icon on it. I understand the MFD may display music info in a future SW update (not sure if just SD music, or BT too...)

    2)
"No battery drain issues" ... does that mean this unit doesn't require an updated CANBUS on early MK5's, like an RCD or RNS required to keep it from killing the battery?

Sandy - I'll message you direct later tonight about group buy payment.
    1) As above, no info, just music controls. Not sure if it can be added in firmware though, dunno.

    2) No battery drain on my Mk6, but you should be aware that headunits like this use a lot of electricity, so if you run it on battery without the car on it'll drain the battery pretty quick.

Does anyone with an amp and sub have any setting they're happy with? I just got my new unit and the bass sounds different to my stock RCD, which I recall was the case when I had my first DNS unit. I may be wrong as I dont have the best ear for this kind of thing but it almost sounds like the sub setting in the eq changes the amount of bass I get but it doesnt make it louder/quieter with the rest of the music if using the volume knob. Its almost like the sub setting is the only thing that makes it louder/quieter. But again I might be wrong as I may be hearing it incorrectly.

    Any ideas guys?
My guess is that you haven't got the EQ settings quite right, might be worth playing around with the settings to see what happens.

I received mine today and it seems to be more of a headache then the pre production units.
Yep, swapped over the weekend, works fine.

Tried two different SD cards in it and it keeps saying Bad SD.
Good thing is I used the Sat Nav on the way to work this morning and
there seems to be no conflict when playing music on USB.
I was a little pissed when I received the replacement as I was sent a DNS610 which I originally ordered
and not a 810 that I received for taking on the pre production unit.
But after putting it in last night, IMO the 610 looks much better then the 810.
I'll try the contacts/SD today, but everything works fine for me. Strange that you got sent the 610, I didn't realise they were in production yet.

Sorry about shipping the 610, I was going off the invoices when placing an order for the replacement units and missed the fact that you opted for the 810 in the pre-production batch. Glad it worked out for you in the end though.

I'm not sure why you're getting the bad SD error when your USB works fine. They are decoded by the same piece of hardware. I would suggest a firmware flash, but wait until I have the latest versions that are compatible with DNS-610 as well as 810.

As for downloading contacts, it's hard to say how that happened but sometimes it could be from the phone. On Android you pair the device and when you try to open the phonebook another message on your phone should pop up saying that the unit is asking for permission to access the phonebook. Not exactly sure how it works with iPhones but BT connections can be finicky to setup at first and in those cases just forget / unpair the connection and start again.

The 610 was not available at the time of my ordering of pre-production units but it was actually the first unit to be available in the production units.

Got me beat why the SD doesn't work.
It is the same card I used for music on the 810.
I even removed all the music from it, formatted it and it still wouldn't work.
GPS SD slot works fine, USB works good but the second SD slot keeps saying Bad Card.
Streaming music with the Bluetooth is a little crackly also compared with the 810.

                • There are multiple software releases coming through this week as AS applies several fixes to the software, I'm not sure as to what the fixes are yet but I will post something up this long weekend.

                  • Ok, thought everything was fine with my new DNS-610 but today it won't shut down.
Was listening to music on SD when I stopped to talk to a mate, turned engine off but didn't pull the key so my missus could keep listening.
Get back in the car and she says the volume won't work.
                    I tried and it didn't.
Pulled the key from the ignition and it wouldn't shut down.
the only thing that would work were the touch screen functions like skip, pause, random and such.
None of the function buttons would work.

                    • Does it power down if you hold both round dials down? That normally resets it

                      • I feel your pain. I started off on a 4 day driving holiday today with my new 'production' replacement unit in the car which aside from a couple of random freezes (reset fine though), until now has been working perfectly. About 5 hours into todays drive while using the Nav plus listening to Pandora through my girlfriend's iPhone 4S (IOS7) plugged into the ipod port, the whole screen froze and started to fade out. I pressed both knobs to reset the unit like normal, but now all that happens when it turns on is I get a blank white screen. Nothing else. I tried resetting the power with the key to no avail. The only other thing I can think to try short of a reflash (which is not an option considering I'm 500kms from home) is pulling the radio fuse. If it does not come good I have to say I'm going to be seriously unimpressed spending the next 3 days in the car with no music... unless Sandy or anyone has something else I can try?

Tried that and it wouldn't shut down(did it many times with the 810)
I had to pull the fuse.

Worst part is I sent the 810 back yesterday.
Should have kept it in case the 610 ****s itself.
At least I knew what I could and couldn't do with the 810.

The other unit received at same time does exactly the same thing in my mates mk6.

Wierd, thought it was odd that certain devices weren't working. Might try a reflash/factory reset on my unit tonight and see if it wakes up.
Further update to this - it turns out my RVC had bitten the dust - by coincidence exactly at the time I fitted my DNS810. Assuming water has got in it as it was intermittent and now doesn't work at all. Hooked up a new camera to isolate the fault and it works perfectly every time (as you stated your unit does moda). The mk6 doesn't have a camera connected - it shows the blank camera screen once after a default restore but then doesn't show it again if it doesn't get a signal - mine was obviously confused due to bad signal / water ingress on the camera.

The Mrs' iPhone 4 has suddenly started working fine after DNS software reflash - but the 4th gen iPod nano doesnt work at all, just doesn't detect.

Does anyone have one of these units in a Mk6? - We are experiencing some CAN related oddities on the 6 that don't occur on the 5.
