  • BTW, what are peoples experiences with iPod/iPhone compatibility at this point?

    I have tried:

2004 iPod photo (works fine with full control)
2009 iPod nano 4th gen (charges but neither ipod nor DNS unit see a data connection)
iPhone 4 iOS 7.1 (DNS switches to iPod mode, but no folder structure loads and no control of unit offered)

What issues is that? RVC works fine for me (though they still haven't fixed the SD playback pause, but thats related to the SD/CPU bug).

Works fine on both my iPod Classic 160GB (charges, controls via unit and iPod), and iPhone 5 (iOS7.0.4 JB - charges, control via unit and iPhone).

My girlfriends iPhone 4 (iOS6) and mums iPhone 4 (iOS7) both work fine as well *shrugs*

RVC works fine the first time after I start the car, but then subsequent reversing it doesn't work. Unit is picking up reverse signal from CAN as it pauses SD playback when engaging reverse, but the screen doesn't change to camera input. The other unit received at same time does exactly the same thing in my mates mk6.

Wierd, thought it was odd that certain devices weren't working. Might try a reflash/factory reset on my unit tonight and see if it wakes up.

        • My girlfriend's iPhone 4s (iOS 7) just gets the blank screen with no tracks etc. but controls fine from the phone itself. I'm still on the Dec F/W though which could be why. My RVC has worked perfectly from day 1 though.

          • Sandy, could you please give me the latest ETA for the unit.

I can't give an ETA at this stage because AS has not given me an ETA on fixing the nav / SD issue. Likely they will just tell me when it is fixed, I will confirm with the software myself, and I will then wrap up the group buy. If this doesn't occur soon I am considering using Sygic as the navigation software instead, because the nav / SD issue does not exist with Sygic. However the preference is to stick with iGo.

Sandy any word on this new update? Happy to have a bash if you haven't tested yet

                • Does the issue only occur when playing music through an SD card and running GPS at the same time?
This would never effect me as i would never use an SD card to play my music

                  • Followed this buy since last June - dropped off when all the problems cropped up. Now that all appears to be good hardware wise, I'd like to get in on the group buy before Sandy closes.

In true Canadian fashion... "sorry" if this has been posted. I've scanned through 200+ thread pages just now (skipped some here an there), but I can't find the info.

                    Questions:

                    1) Does the BT screen display any song info? All I see from old demo vids is that it shows a blue screen with an icon on it. I understand the MFD may display music info in a future SW update (not sure if just SD music, or BT too...)

                    2)
"No battery drain issues" ... does that mean this unit doesn't require an updated CANBUS on early MK5's, like an RCD or RNS required to keep it from killing the battery?

Sandy - I'll message you direct later tonight about group buy payment.

                    • Hi guys.

Does anyone with an amp and sub have any setting they're happy with? I just got my new unit and the bass sounds different to my stock RCD, which I recall was the case when I had my first DNS unit. I may be wrong as I dont have the best ear for this kind of thing but it almost sounds like the sub setting in the eq changes the amount of bass I get but it doesnt make it louder/quieter with the rest of the music if using the volume knob. Its almost like the sub setting is the only thing that makes it louder/quieter. But again I might be wrong as I may be hearing it incorrectly.

                      Any ideas guys?

                      • Anyone else received there "production" unit yet?
I received mine today and it seems to be more of a headache then the pre production units.

Nothing displayed other than what you describe: Music icon and forward/back/pause controls

Late '07 Mk5 here with older CAN gateway, and no battery drain issues at all in 3 weeks so far : )

Yes it does only affect SD playback (possibly USB also but not sure as I haven't thoroughly tested) Using CD/FM/Aux in seems fine.

Is even worse if using a TTS voice in iGo (causes my audio to stutter), presumably because of the additional CPU resource required when generating voice instructions.

If not using SD, iGo (Primo 2.4 on my unit) works perfectly and the unit as a whole is very snappy compared to other similar units I have used previously.

took me an hour to get it to download contacts from my phone.
Ended up getting it done though.
Tried two different SD cards in it and it keeps saying Bad SD.
Good thing is I used the Sat Nav on the way to work this morning and
there seems to be no conflict when playing music on USB.
I was a little pissed when I received the replacement as I was sent a DNS610 which I originally ordered
and not a 810 that I received for taking on the pre production unit.
But after putting it in last night, IMO the 610 looks much better then the 810.
