  • Thanks for your response Faisan,

I am swinging towards the 9000-1 as it does look like the VW unit. Did you instal the unit yourself? Worth doing?

    • Yep definitely install it yourself. Very easy to do if you are careful.

      • Faisan,

Matter of curiosity, where do you plug the Y-adaptor? Noticed you have the Parrot BT, is that still needed?

        Cheers

        • Your car has 2 antennas, hence 2 cables. The AVC has only one antenna socket. You plug your two antennas (FAKRA type connectors) into the Y-piece and the other end of it into the antenna socket at the back of the AVC9000. Be very careful doing this as the FAKRA connector has a very fine centre pin that is easy to bend over if not connected exactly straight.
I have found the BT of theAVC9000 to be quite OK, you have to speak up a bit so your voice carries over to the mic which is on the left (LHD cars in China) Need for Parrot is personal preference - if you are not happy with the AVC implementation.

Original AVC9000 has rear IPOD adaptor (I cabled mine into glove box) but doesn't charge most IPods, so it goes flat in there. You can plug your IPOD into the front USB connector and it charges, as well as being seen as an external device and playing the music!

          Hope that helps..

          • Can anyone assist with some detailed instruction on how to install the AVC-9000-1 in an Eos? (The Chinglish instruction booklet is absolutely hopeless)
I sourced one from somewhere other than Auspac Electronics and the installer cant get the unit to interface properly with the CAN-BUS, and the unit will only work when the ignition is on. As it was he said he had all sorts of trouble even finding power to run it at all. Either there is something the installer doesnt know, or Auspac's units have different firmware or connector(s). Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the AVC-90001 is the MK2 version of the WD6050 which makes sense cause the MK3 units havent been out long. The MK2's had known issues with what you have described.

                  • hey guys, I have a golf mk6 and thinking of getting a AVC-9000-1 or RNS510 and putting it in myself..

Do you think this is a good idea or would you have it professionally installed ? I'm still looking for a good price on the units...

                    • Thanks Faisan for your reply for what its worth. Can anyone who has had an AVC-9001 professionally installed in Sydney with no issues give me the name of the installer?
                      Thanks

                      • The GPS on my unit has stopped working for a few days. I have the AVC9000 model and not the newer WD6050.

Is anyone else having problems with GPS? I have read about how alot of the WD6050 units are having this problem too.

                        • What a coincidence, my AVC9000 also did the same.
Working one day, with Uncle TomTom, and the next, could not receive any sats. Did the usual press of all the buttons, to no avail.
I am assuming it is the antenna that has developed a fault, so have ordered a replacement, which I hope to get in a few days time.
Pulled the antenna apart, and it is a sealed chip, so no way to repair it.
Auspak sell for less than $30, so hopefully the replacement will do the trick.

                            • Just installed AVC9000-1

I've just purchased from Rob at Auspacks the AVC9000-1 unit.
I already have the older unit AVC9000 which I'll put into my Jetta as it only has the half MFD display and it won't integrate to that.

The new system integrates perfectly with the MFD as the original RCD500 unit in my Passat.

The overall setup is better - fits better, electrical plugs are located differently & the CANbus box in integrated within the unit, touchy feeling stuff is better (buttons nicer), software a bit less clunky, has been 100% bug free so far. (very minor bug in software in older unit which was sorted by Rob). Backup support from Auspacks has been excellent.

Running IGO8 in both units - far superior navigation software I think (have tried TomTom).

                              One happy customer.

Guys 1000's of GPS units were affected (not just the AVC)...

Have a search on the WD6050 thread on the MkV forum for more details.
