My only big winge about my AVC9000=1 is that in bright light the screen is sometimes hard to see. Has anyone used LCD anti glare film and how does it look.

I have tried the anti glare film and it help at all. I have now built a shroud out of black plastic that goes over the top of the unit to help block sunlight.

This film is fairly cheap (about $10 on the internet being the only place I can find it). Did it make any difference or is it not even worth considering. I think I have seen a picture of the shroud you made earlier.

I wouldnt bother with the film to be honest. Mine only cost around $10 too and it did nothing. Its good as a screen protector if you need one.

I wouldnt bother with the film to be honest. Mine only cost around $10 too and it did nothing. Its good as a screen protector if you need one.

This is my wife's main complaint about the 9000 - ie glare making it hard to see.
Can you post a pic of your shroud please or point to one if you have already posted it?

I would rather not post a pic of the shroud as its fairly crappy and emabarrising

Is litterlly a strip of cardboard that I have inserted in the gap between th head unit and the dash fascia below the air vents. This helps block some of sunlight coming from the top of the dash but doesnt help with glare coming from the sides.

The problem we have is that SWMBO drives at dawn & dusk so it is glare from the sides that is the problem...
Anyone else with a solution?

I just bought a Golf and would like to buy the VW sat nav but you can not buy this after market and have it installed in australia.

Has anyone else hit this issue.

Not true.
You can buy the VW Satnav after delivery. There may be a problem with supply though.

Which Unit 9000 or 9000-1 requires the Y-adaptor to fix the reception problem? Is one of the unit better suited to the MarkV golf GTI? Which is the better unit?

Dont know about the problems being resolved with the MK3 unit. Should be ok by now you would think.

Both the 9000 and 9000-1 need Y adaptors for the antenna.

I think most would consider the 9000-1 or WD6050 as the better unit. The menu looks slightly better and the unit looks just like the RNS510.

The only plus with the AVC9000 is that it has a bigger screen and rear USB input.
