Thanks for the heads up regarding Auspack no longer in business.
Ive been trying to contact Rob for a week but have had no luck.
2 months ago I bought 2 headunits off him (AVC 9000-1). They were both installed worked fine for awhile however one of them no longer work.
The sound signal does not make it to the amp/speakers. Ive reinstalled my stock headunit again which works fine.
How would I go about making some sort of warranty claim off him? He didnt send me an invoice when I requested one so I'm not sure what my options are here.

Help!
I would shortcut the issue and find an electronics nerd place and get them to just open it and find what is broken.
I had a custom ECU rally computer for my WRX fixed by some electronics nerds.. apparently they just open it and check all the connections etc , test where the signal is dying and replace that item.
*Disclaimer - Don't rely on me, seek your own professional advice. Audi R8 E-tron. 230kw 4500nm! (not a typo).

As this thread has been resurrected, it's time to ask.......
Now that Rob has gone (and his website is "vacant" on the optus system), is there a consensus on who should be the "supplier of choice" and what is the best option to buy?
6050 rev 3? or what??
cheers,

.... and I guess that the reason people keep coming back to these chinese units is that there are different ideas of how that plays out:
For less money you get more features with the after-market; BUT for more money you get better (OEM) quality with an RNS...
So it's horses for courses

Yeh I was just going to do that if Rob was not contactable.
I dont mind it breaking as its a cheap china brand unit but I'm pretty disappointed though that I have to pay for repairs considering its only 2 months old and should be under "warranty".

Yeah but doubt anyone who's had an RNS510 would be coming back, so i guess you mean people that have tried other chinese knock offs are coming back to these ones?
Still waiting on a decent all in one audio brand aftermarket solution, word is that Alpine may be bringing one out later in the year.

I'd be annoyed if it broke and you thought you had warranty and now no support.. what's the point of having a paperweight when it could go towards a good unit?
Hi all, l have been on ebay and found these guys in Queensland who state they sell the genuine RNs 510 for 1495.00 dollars, has anyone tried these guys at all and it states it has 12 months warranty.l have supplied the link below:

Well I bit the bullet and bought the new headunit from JITHK on e-bay, replacing the AVC-9000 in the Golf. The difference is amazing.
High res screen (800x480) and much more professional interface. Very professional fit and finish. Camera (licence plate light) is much better, response much quicker, everything works as advertised. Also much cheaper ($550-ish). Also external mic for bluetooth is much better than LHD-biased inbuilt one.
I bought this one after a very positive write-up of the Touareg version over on clubtouareg, and I'm quite happy with it. More important, my wife is quite happy with it!
My only (minor) niggle is that the operation of the radio (or other source) when the nav screen is active has some ideosyncracies.
1. Volume control doesn't work until you re-display the sound source eg radio. You re-display the sound source by pressing the NAVI button to de-select NAVI.
2. Pressing the radio button does not re-select the radio display, it acts like you are already there and changes band AM-FM etc.
all-in-all, highly recommended.

MY11 models in America are getting an RNS315 satnav/stereo.
Might pay to do some research into this option as it should be cheaper than an RNS510.
I believe some MY11 models also come with inbuilt bluetooth.
Im tempted to get the RNS510 - can be got on ebay for around the $1100 mark which is pretty reasonable and a couple of members here have already gone down that path successfully.
I had looked at the original AVC9000 and came to the conclusions that i wouldnt be able to live with it day to day
