Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

      Why guys, Just wondering if there is a SW update for me?

      Maps - Sensis - 7920 (Don't really care about the maps as they suck and I will always use Waze for the traffic)

              Hi everyone

              I have 2009 CC with RNS510. its one of the older firmware versions without "secret" screen to tell me firmware version.
              Now, say if i upgrade it to version 5238, and it works, will this make modern phones work with unit's Bluetooth?
              Currently it connects to the phone, but turns calling, messaging and data off, and Bluetooth streaming does not work.

              Or will i require to replace hardware?

              Any help is appreciated.

                Need a proper Bluetooth module. No harm in upgrading the rns firmware though there are other benefits.

                    in this case, which unit would i need to buy and how hard is it to fit in? thank you

                    P.S. looked on the net and people say this is because of "premium" version, which only has rSap and made by Nokia.
                    simple search on the "Google Play" returned and App which implements the function to work with VW group crap stereos.

                    wonder if anyone tried this approach instead...

                      Yep 9w7 if you can still find one. They aren't made any more. Else use a 9wz.

                                Saying it is US can mean its stuffed, not made in USA. To Take it out, pop surrounding faceplate, undo 4 screws, pull forward, Read label take photo. Post here Get answer.
