Firmware updates for RNS510 units in Australia/NZ

Yup that's exactly right. It was an original B ver.. hoping 4120 can go into this unit.

You need to check your hw_radio version. If it is 04 or below you cannot use 4120.

Yes. Been running fine for about 6 months.
However it doesn't add any significant features over 4120 so there is no point for most users .
Every flash of the unit has a small risk of failure which could brick it so I've not made it widely available.
It is for dab units which are horribly expensive.
If you are really keen im me and you can have it.

But need to somehow backup my settings for navigation. Anyone in the area that an help out?

Kamold / Hillbilly thanks heaps for your help.. upgrade worked a treat very simple and really didn't need to do anything besides put the CD in. Thanks heaps for your help.. Unit seems to run a little faster and seems more responsive

When talking revision numbers am I right that you're talking about the VW ones (not Skoda)?

Yes the whole nomenclature is a bit confusing. Should really be referred to by their HW ID. VW part number revisions however are what most people commonly use to differentiate and they dont match with Skoda even though they are the same hardware inside.
So those two you mentioned will essentially be exactly the same.

I heard that the navigation code needs to be backed up
I have
1TD0035680D
HW-version H61
SW-VERSION 3970.

I want to upgrade to 4120 so it activates the radio rds
I have seen someone talk about after upgrade will need to put the long navigation code back in

Have upgraded from 2760 to 4120 and have never had to long code or anything else and unit is working perfectly ( or as perfect as a VW unit can) LOL

It's not a bug. The signal is encrypted here and VWA haven't bought a license from SUNA/RAC_.

And unless you get a unit which has a DAB+ board in it DAB wont work here either. Australia in its wisdom is different to almost all of the rest of the world in this.
