Ah, see i got that message once, but then after a while i got a message saying that maps had been loaded, and it had an eject button on the screen. Still no good.

    • Post some pics of the version and HDD info screens from test menu, see if there are any clues there...

        • The Bluetooth volume by default is set very low from memory. Try going into setup->media and set bluetooth volume to medium or high (I think you have to already have the phone paired and Bluetooth streaming playing)

              • Firstly, I assume the iphone is paired with the RNS-510?

Here is a demo of the steps..

When the phone is paired and you start up ipod, there is like an arrow sort of icon down the bottom (don't have a bluetooth device with me so can't pair my phone to look at it and describe it better). You click on this and it allows you to select where you want to route the audio...

Yep it's fully paired, phonebook and calls all works fine.
And yep i knew this because it worked on the other firmware hahaha.

it comes up with the option to play, pause, skip under media.
pressing play does make the song play on the phone and pause likewise.
The audio routing is set to the rns and not iphone, but there is no sound.

                      • So, without VAGCOM (?) cable or experience in anything electronic at all (!) how do I find out what version of firmware and or map I have?

                        • You could install one of the upgrades listed here which allows you to access a hidden menu by holding the Setup button for about 10 seconds, which can reveal your firmware.
