managed to download the latest updates and apply them yesterday, piece of cake, unzip files to usb stick plug into car took 35mins to do the update . out of curiosity i had a look at the files and the majority of them are dated september 2016, the nerd in me started opening files with a hex editor and i found the string in one file "Q4 2016" even though now the nav unit has 2017/2018 listed in the version number.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just got mine back today for a 60K service. I have had repeated requests to both the dealership and Skoda on this matter (as with every other forum member with a pre my15 Skoda.) Well, the dealership told me this morning it's all updated and whoopee I thought, until I checked 10 minutes down the road.... Still on ROW2014. Argh! So I turn around and storm up to the service manager and say wtf. Three hours later and they finally figure out what the rest of you all know which is an activation key and workshop charge of $99. Suffice to say, thankfully they waived the charge due to the "error" in the workshop.
It's only done via the diagnostic tool (Odis) and obviously the actual code/number/pin activation. Oh and a sticker...[emoji38]
Let's hope the future updates won't require further "activation" otherwise this will be a joke. Like others, we have been waiting for 3 years to simply access the map.

My "select preferred fuel" only comes up with arbitrary numbers, like 1/142, and things like that. There's no indication of what any of these numbers mean.
And updated 2 days ago to the latest update available on the portal, so it's not old data I'm using.2016 Skoda Octavia 162TSI RS Wagon

Hello, I am also trying to update the maps in my 2015 Octavia Scout. The Skoda update portal says I can download ROW2104, but the car already has ROW2015!! Do you have any clues where I can get the MRM2016/2017 mentioned above? Regards.

I bought my 2015 Scout in May 2016 and have downloaded 4 map updates - one every 6/12. It sounds like you are one of the unfortunate people with a VIN that the portal is not permitting to download the latest maps. MRM2017/18 is the latest map available on the portal. Because the download is tied to each specific VIN and car, getting a copy of another person's map download probably won't work. I think you should get in touch with your dealer service department about the problem. Read post #242 above regarding the solution.

I have an MY15 Octavia RS162TSi which had the 2015 map on my Columbus unit. There was no newer update on the portal. Emailed Skoda and they organised for the dealer to update my map which cost $99. Apparently this is a one off charge which 'unlocks' your map updates. The dealer upgraded me to the new version which was ROW 2017/18. The portal then showed that as the latest update. I just checked back there the other day and there's a new update, MRM 2018 which I'm in the process of downloading. The dealer advised that all future updates are free from the portal which you can do yourself or they will update your maps for free when you take your car in for a service.
Hope this helps.

I'll check again to c if P68 shows up.
As for using "others" downloaded maps - I wouldn't.
I believe the maps r tied to the specific navigation unit in each car, hence why it's VIN related.
Could b wrong too, and it might just b another VAG scare & money making tactic.MY17 Superb 162TSI, Business Grey, Tech+Comfort Pack, APR ECU+TCU Stg 1, SLA, Rieger Splitter + Side Skirts, Eibach Pro-Kit Springs, Hardrace Swaybar, TPMS
