Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    I had the wing bars on my polo which where super quiet. But I have a thule velo for the rear makes me feel more at ease. Yea altitude 770msl 2016. only reason I didn't get the top was I don't like the red and I changed a lot of bits any way.

      That's why I went for the Whispbar. It doesn't clamp the down tube super tight, but it clamps it from both sides & the wheel clamps do most of the work.

        The proride dosnt do any damage I was just paranoid for no reason.

          Had the car serviced for the second time (30K) yesterday. Only had 18.5k on the clock, so time based. Since moving inner city, we are doing way less k's. Still love the car, everything runs perfect with it, great economy and it still looks brand new

          Will have to get it serviced earlier next year and get an "end of warranty" check done, but so far, had 0 issues so being a manual i'm not expecting any to suddenly appear.

                  Anyone vinyl wrapped the centre lower bar of their RS? Wouldn't mind getting this done or attempting myself if I can source a strip of good quality wrap. Anyone have any tips or places they can recommend in Melb metro?

                    Also, anyone installed spacers for a bit more track to fill out the guards? I think it looks great but concerned whether there are any negative consequences to handling or tyre wear. This guy used 15mm front and 22mm rear I believe.

                        What did you do to your Octavia today?

                        Been driving my near new RS 162 wagon around NSW and Victoria county the last week. The way is gobbles up 4 people and luggage (and Xmas pressies etc) is fantastic. Acceleration overtaking on country roads from around 80/90kph when in sports mode is really confidence building. Big like.

                          He has a lower lip as well. Someone should start a group buy

                                Yeah postage is a killer but do what I did, post to family member in UK (or anywhere else inEU) for free (€10 if its less €200 spend) than then get said family to repost to Oz using slowboat freight and remove all unnecessary packaging of multiple items.
