I went down the RS path back at the start of March with expected eta of late September. I ordered Moon white, all options except leather.
That was until getting no information about the order up until 2 weeks ago, which my dealer told me expected build date of Nov/Dec, delivery of Jan/Feb. To which I canceled the order....and bought a GTI.

    But my dealer did show me the build allocations for the next few months which where as follows;
    August-8
    September-18
    October-8
    Nov/Dec-12

Apparently that was nation wide of both the wagon and sedan. I just wasn't willing to wait that long (being i orderd at the start of march), and i was able to find a fully speced out golf(that i pick up next week!) for not much more. It's a shame, but there slackness lost an order from me.
the factory builds the cars in "batches".
RHD cars is one batch type.
LHD cars are another batch type.
there r other types of "batches".

hence why u have slots for different markets/builds.

Hmmm. those numbers are intersting - you'd have to assume that there are more than those totals being ordered per month Aust-wide to be built in those precise months, wouldn't you? If that's the case, it would make sense - in my mind - that a company would do as many of the orders from one region/spec as possible at once (particularly as some, like Australia, are a long distance away; say once every month) and they could all go out in one go. That doesn't seem possible with the numbers quoted there.

Still vainly trying to hold on the the hope!

      • Actually while i remember, i test drove a TSI DSG wagon last week and was surprised (alarmed?) when we went over one of those sloped-curb-raised suburban s-shaped 'speedbumps' where the undercarriage smacked on entry and exit. It wasn't a plastic noise, and it didn't seem to be that high or steep either - we were going under 15 km/h. The dealer was confused but couldn't explain (and still hasn't bothered to find out from anyone for us) and it didn't happen on normal speed bumps. This made our plans to take it onto tracks when camping dubious, but we can't find any mention of any ride-hight issues anywhere. Is this car totally inappropriate to take onto gravel or rutted roads anyway?

I know it's fairly low, but specs say it's got more clearance than our current focus which is fine for the purpose, if a slightly-shorter wheel-base.

          Such is life.
That low order volume matches what I was told.

I've got an FL RS. Low profile tyres mean its a bit jarring, but drive at a reasonable pace so you aren't bouncing in and out of ruts and its not bad. Its no 4WD, but its perfectly capable. I've had it up and down muddy tracks without too many problems, TC seems pretty well tuned to deal with slush.

Maybe you hit the mud flaps or exhaust or something. I dunno, a visual of the height of the car and the speedbump should tell you if they go together head on.... I've never had problems with the ride height except for rear to kerb parking because the exhaust is low and Bathurst gutters are high!

My dealer informed me that my car was about to be built when it 's status changed fro "Frozen" to blank. It's been this status for a week and a bit now until today as the dealer just informed me that its being built next Tuesday 29th July. So ... for anyone else who has been waiting a long time for MY15 Tech pack cars, check with your dealer as he may hopefully now have good news for you.
The question is, do I call my dealer yet again, or do I call skoda direct......My poor dealer probably has my number blocked ha ha!
Why can't they make some sort of online order checker up? It cant be that hard surely! (especially for read only)

Flick them a message on facebook, they are very good at answering questions that way.
I did that and almost straight away they asked for my mobile number so they could ring me

If you don't want to call him, send him an email asking him to investigate if there are any build issues with your car as you know that a few posters on the Skoda forum (who ordered Tech pack cars at the same time) have had their car built (or given a build date.) I'd also attach a few screenshots of posts as proof. At least that may prompt him to investigate further with Skoda if it still isn't showing a status on his computer.

Cheers for that info. Probably better from someone with experience with the car than a mechanic or manufacturer anyway. At least that takes away the only car-related issue we had as an excuse not to buy - now to ultimately deal with contemplating a 9+ month wait... *sigh*

                        • Spoke with Skoda. "Your car is in ordered Status. It has delays due to tech pack" Did the whole well how come people in other states who ordered similar spec cars at the same time or afterwards have been built or have build dates? Then they say about dealer pre-orders etc yadda yadda yadda..... So essentially the earliest my car will be built is end of August - so mid november delivery. Pretty disappointing that there is a 6 month wait on a mid spec car.....I could have ordered a bloody RS at the same time and had that! They pretty much towed the line of "Tech pack is holding you up (umm others have ordered tech pack!) nothing we can do."

Disappointing they treat the aussie market with such disdain - I mean if they wanted to grow the brand, wouldnt they have more stock at dealers / reduce wait times?

Anyway, rant over. Just have to wait it out I guess

EDIT: And they tried the "you were told a 3 - 4 month wait" which I was - but I think 99% of people would take that as delivered, not just to get built - which I said and they just re-directed the conversation.....hmmmmm

Sooo jealous! I recall you put your order in late Apr/early May K4nex, and we had similar specs too.

Might have to patch a call to my dealer....

                            • 34,000 plus Octavias being built every month & Australia is being allocated about 20 slots? What a joke.

It's almost like bait & switch selling. You go to buy a Skoda, get told there's a huge wait so then you go to VW that have showrooms & holding yards full of stock.

                              • If Skoda was run independently from VW, I'd imagine the case would be totally different. Shame though. I'm worried the car I ordered won't be what I initially wanted and will be forced to make compromises given the wait involved if i were to order again. It happened to my parents when they ordered their Jetta. Fingers crossed!
